Stunning area.
Stunning area. I was amazed at the huge ancient trees and the beautiful red cliffs.
This area is a long way off the main road and there are some patches on the way up to Wilpena pound without service. However the road is good and well traveled.
I wish I had longer to explore the many hikes and lookouts. However the walk to the homestead from Wilpena Pound resort is spectacular and so incredible I saw so many wild animals and birds on that short walk. I learned a lot about the history of the area too.

This is a very special place in Australia and one which is always on the top of our go to places when in South Australia. The scenery is unsurpassed and rugged. Colours are amazing. Always a good chance to see Kangaroos and emus. The gorges are an experience I wish all Australians could see. Peacefulness, bush walks, awesome, geological history in abundance and a very meaningful place for our First Nations Australians where we can all learn about indigenous culture.

The scenic flight over Wilpena Pound was great.
The scenic flight over Wilpena Pound was great. However there was not much else to do. The place was mostly closed for Christmas. Trails closed. No tours we could find. Not the best time of year for us.

We should have hired a 4wd as a lot of the tracks didn't suit our little hybrid car. However the road is great up to Blinman, and we saw as much as we could in the time we had. Blinman has a copper mine you can visit, built by Cornish miners. The cafe provides "real" cornish pasties which include apple in the end, as 'dessert.' The landscape is amazing all around, with plentiful wildlife peacefully grazing. Hawker has the most incredible artist in residence - Jeff Morgan, who is internationally recognized for his Panorama paintings. The one of Wilpena Pound is sublime. He also has a collection of memorabilia and cars which is fun to go through. The old pub at Hawker is right out of the 1940's and worth visiting.

This region is stunningly beautiful and rugged.
This region is stunningly beautiful and rugged. Blinman mine tour was a very good insight into life in the mines and recounted / conducted by locals who know the nuanced history and stories of the period. Stokes Hill Lookout is a must for grand views of the rolling ranges and amazing sunset that throw out the colors that are characteristically Flinders Ranges.
Recommend to use a 4WD or AWD SUV so you can access as many places as possible: roads are very accessible to these types of vehicles. Petrol and diesel are available at Wilpena and Rawnsley Park Station (understandably at a higher price). We stayed at Rawnsley Park Station which was a very good experience (except for lack of WiFi).

Overall - outstanding!
Overall - outstanding! The views of the land formations, and from the trails were brilliant. Three days were not enough to actually take in the scenery and appreciate the magnificence of this area. Get out there and just do it!!

Considering it is a camping area, it was very clean and well taken care of. Stayed in a glamping tent - first time. Amenities were what we good and until we figured how to heat the bathroom (there was an electric heater we didn’t see at first), it was a bit chilly. Food was very good, tours were fabulous- we did the 6 hour plane tour, the 4.5 hour tour into Ikara-Flinders National Park and the 2 hour sunset tour..
If you have the chance and want to learn about the first people and and the area, go to Wilpena Pound. It was well worth the cost
The staff (who I think are more like family) were very friendly and helpful. The "cabin" we stayed in seemed pretty new; very clean; open bright spaces; kitchen containing all the necessities. I was so very pleasantly surprised at how hot the showers were! We spent our days exploring the surrounding driving routes and hiking Wipena Pound. We loved how central to the Flinders Ranges region this accommodation was. We spent our evenings sipping wine by the fire or gazing at the incredible starlit Milkeyway galaxy.
The Overseer Cottage was really nice. Slightly outdated but it only gave it a bit more character especially it being a bit of a historic building. Everything inside worked perfectly and it was very clean.
The staff were very amazing and understanding especially since we arrived very late. Very good advice regarding the area and activities.
The station was packed yet it still had that outback feeling you expected. The communal camp kitchen was fully equipped.
We even got free fire wood!
Great location, friendly staff throughout our stay who could not do anything more for us. Pool location was a great win for us.
Accommodation was perfect for our needs and we couldn't have enjoyed a more relaxing stay.
Tour options were great and we took advantage of these. History book in the room was a great resourceful for learning about the station and area, helped to give context.
Truly an experience glamping in a tent with full modern amenities and a fantastic view of the Flinders ranges. Even more awesome was the immense night sky filled with stars. We were lucky to have a clear night view of our universe! Be prepared and come with a good camera to capture the brilliant night scenes. Bed was very comfortably and having the ensuite toilet a blessing in winter!
Great walks on the station itself, amazing views! Proximity to Wilpena Pound was a bonus. This station experience was a wonderful part of our Flinders Ranges trip. We were given plenty of information when we booked (need to bring own food), which was very handy, plus the warm and informative welcome was great.
It is in the middle of the Flinders Ranges National Park. Very nice to look at starts at night.
The resort restaurant is fairly nice. It is very convenient to have the restaurant and supermarket inside of the resort. Further, the scenic flight is cool to experience.
Lovely little hotel in the middle of nowhere. Recently renovated with all modern facilities. Gorgeous bathroom and nice room. Very friendly and attentive staff members. Dinner and breakfast was included: delicious and copious! A true outback experience.
Location in the heart of the Flinders Ranges is brilliant.
King bed and warm shower much appreciated.
Feeling of camping without the planning.
Ability to have campfire in front of tent.
Welcome to country presentation was excellent.
This is a unique experience in a very remote place and that’s the attraction. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we appreciated the visitors lounge and the fact that the hotel provided dinner bed and breakfast.
really nice location, in the middle of the flinders ranges. the big house we took (for 8 people) was wide and spacious. the bbq area was nice and plenty of wood to take on the fireplace inside and outside. would recommend
Being lovers of mid-century modern architecture, we LOVED our room. The resort caters for all types of accommodation and is a fabulous place to experience Wilpena Pound. Restaurant and bar were great for dinner
A loud bunch of motorbike riders partied outside with a giant speaker until 4am and nobody but the distressed guests tried to ask them to turn it off. Zero respect from the hotel for their guests.
Room and ensuite were very clean and comfortable with appropriate furnishings. The site of the glamping tents was fabulous. We loved Wilpena Pound and hope to visit the Flinders Ranges again.
This was a fantastic place to stay, rooms were super clean and comfortable, staff were very friendly and helpful, and hotel Restaurant was superb. And the location was beautiful.
Great location close to Ilkara national park, with it's own great views of the Flinders Ranges. Good value for money. Quiet, great for a get-away on a unique location.
