Proximity to the water was great.
Proximity to the water was great. A fair amount of bird life about when we visited. We were in transit to Hotel Lago grey so our visit to the town was relatively brief. Our impression of Puerto Natales was degraded by the poor customer service we received from Hotel Costaustralis. There greedy attitude thankfully was not evident in our other hotel stays :)

One of the gateways to Patagonia, less than 2 hours drive from Hosteria Pehoe. Direct flight from Santiago, everything is convenient, except there is no car rental place at airport. But it is only a 10 min taxi ride to town.

I chose Puerto Natales because it has an airport close to Torres del Paine. I did four excursions to view the outdoor beauty of southern Chile. I walked to the bus station to acquire information ... I was pleasantly surprised that a bus can take me futher south, near the tip of South Amarica.

Puerto Natales is a very cool town. We stayed in the park for 2-3 nights and in Puerto Natales for 1 prior to a flight early in the AM. We enjoyed walking through town and had EXCELLENT food at La Disqueria!! There isn’t a whole lot to do in the town itself, you can probably see everything in one day, and the weather is unpredictable even in the summer. It’s walkable and there are some cool shops and restaurants that largely cater to tourists. Most people come here because they are going to hike or tour Torres Del Paine, to see the glaciers, or both, and they don’t want to spend $500 USD or more per night to stay in the park. Figure out how many excursions you want to do, and give yourself an extra day to check out the town.

Puerto Natales is an easily navigated small town and a good jumping off point for tours and trips to Torres del Paine, one of Chile's most famous national parks and hiking trails, as well as for catamaran tours to see the glaciers. The town is equipped with a number of good restaurants, outdoor/sports stores and supermarkets, making it a good place to stop before and/or after excursions. It has a beautiful waterfront. It is cool year round, cold in the winter, keep in mind this region of Chile includes Antarctica so you should always be prepared for wind and cold, although we did have a few relatively warm afternoons.McFarland

The house has a large living room with a beautiful kitchen and a hidden and spacious garden. The rooms are large, very clean, beautifully decorated, with a comfortable bed, and very quiet. The host is very friendly and a great chat, and he even gave me a lift to the airport. They have lockers where you can leave your stuff while going on a trek to Torres del Paine National Park. Highly recommended :). Hope to be back someday.

They speak English and Spanish and greeted me by name whenever I came in. They were fully booked, but they managed to find space for me to stay an extra two days when I didn't have a place to go. It's more like an airbnb than a proper hotel. Friendly husband and wife owners. Taxi from downtown costs 5000 clp. Common area where you have breakfast or drinks is big and beautifully designed too. 10 minutes from airport. Easy parking on premises. Highly recommended unless you want to stay walking distance to the sea and downtown. Husband is a fly fishing guide too.

The greatest shower in the history of the world...giant shower head with wonderful flow. The pool is heated to 24 degrees, so slightly cool, but nice none the less. Wonderful hotel, and overall incredible value for money (I stayed in the last few days of September, so still low season)
