I Liked the location of the hotel, set on an island in the river. The location was quiet, although there is a lot of building development close bye, but the double glazing in the hotel was excellent and you could not hear any outside noise when the windows were closed. The hotel is about a 15 minute walk from the shops, bars/cafes, metro, etc. There is an excellent bar/café right next door to the hotel providing hot and cold drinks, tapas and snacks. The hotel itself does not provide meals, but there is a free hot drinks machine for use in the mornings and late afternoon/evening. There is also a vending machine that takes cash for snacks, etc. The hotel has a large lift to all floors. The room was of a good size and I did have a chance to upgrade for a price, but I choose not to. The double bed was very comfy, there was a desk and chair, bedside tables, a comfortable arm chair, wall mounted TV and a phone for internal calls only. The bathroom and shower was of a good size and towels were provided. Everything was clean and modern despite the building being established. The hotel is family run with the owners living at the premises. On check-in you are given a does and don'ts sheet which was very useful and check-out was easy, just depositing the key in the box provided just outside the check-in desk. The hotel is fully secure with CCTV and a swipe card to gain access to the hotel and your room. I will return to Bilbao and will definitely use this hotel again.

Bilbao is a small city so 3/4 days is plenty to see all the main attractions. There is a great range of restaurants to choose from, many do not serve food until after 7.30pm and many close during the afternoon. The Guggenheim and Fine Art Gallery are worth a visit, also take the Funacular to get a great view of the city, this is just beside the Old Town. We took a trip by metro out to Getxo for a day by the sea and this was well worth the trip.

I liked everything.
I liked everything. The transport system was excellent, metro, busses and trams. The people were friendly and Bilbao is a laid back city, no one in a rush. The bars/cafes, restaurants, etc were great and very reasonably priced. There is plenty to see and do, Guggenheim museum and San Malmes stadium tour were two of the highlights. The parks are fab to just sit and relax and the coast is just a 20 minute metro ride. The funicular ride is worth it and the view of the city from the top is fantastic. The old town is a maze of narrow streets with shops, bars/cafes and restaurants. Again a short ride away on the metro. The Baskian restaurant/brewery in the main shopping centre serves authentic Basque food and is very reasonable. The Wicklow bar in the centre of the city is the place to go for a great draught pint of Guinness in a proper glass, small, but always popular and a friendly welcome by the owner, Mick. The only down side that I found was that there are not many public toilets, but you can always dip into a bar/café and maybe another tipple and some tapas! I will definately return.

Excellent place for a long weekend visit.
Excellent place for a long weekend visit. The city has been given a good upgrade on public areas and there are very nice walks and spaces to chill along the Nervion river, the old part of the town or the new city.
Good transport system and good connection to the airport and train station.
Great place for pintxos and chiquiteo (tapas and bar hoping) as well as modern art (guggenheim museum really stands out), or just simply chill in a nice urban setting. Plenty of shopping spots too.

The Guggenheim of course, but the city is elegant, bright and bustling. The bridges alone are worth going there for. We ate at small cafes and pincho bars of which there are countless numbers. There is an underground metro and tram routes, but we walked. There is a pleasant walk along the river.

Bilbao is a beautiful city set on the river , lots to see and do when there and you definately need 3 days to cover it all , we went out to the bay of biscay on one of the days and it was worth it ,we travelled on the orange line to Niguri got off there walked the coast line and got back on metro at Areeta back to abando where out hotel is. My main tip is try to get a main meal in the middle of the day as we found it hard to eat at night apart from Tapas bars which really didnt suit a gluten intolerant person in the party .

Absolutely fabulous city.
Absolutely fabulous city. Spectacular food, people are so friendly and helpful and the city itself easy to get around (get the barik card) and with so much to see.
We ate in pintxo bars in Plaza Nueva numerous times. We also popped into cafes, had lunch in Las Cepas close to the Guggenheim (menu del día €15). I had dinner with a group in a Txoco (fabulous experience).
The metro was fabulous and runs all night on a Saturday. We also got a taxi to San Juan de Gaztelugatxe (€60 between 4 of us). No tix required on Monday to access the site although the church was closed. There's a restaurant by the car park with great food and views. We then called a taxi to take us to Bermeo (there is a bus but every 2 hours). This cost another €20. Bermeo is a pretty fishing town. We got the train back to Bilbao using the barik card - in total it cost 4 of us about €5 to return on the train.
Highly recommend the funicular to Artxanda (great views) and generally explore the city. It can be chilly so be prepared to wrap up.
I wish I had discovered Bilbao years ago but so glad I have now. I'll definitely return.
The modern Illunion San Mamés hotel is situated right above the bus station of Bilbao, which was very convenient for me, arriving late with Flixbus in the evening and departing in the morning. Unless you are a football fanatic the stony new development location is not very inspiring, but a good starting-point for walks (through the beautiful park) to the Guggenheim Museum and old town. There are plenty of restaurants and bars in the vicinity. I liked the room very much: stylish, efficienyt, comfortable, with plenty of facilities.
Bilder Boutique Hotel is a very nice small hotel with sleek modern design and furnishings including plumbing and AC and so on, retrofitted into an old building shell at the edge of Bilbao’s “Casco Viejo” (Old Quarter ). THE main plus about the hotel is it’s absolutely location right where the old quarter begins, but not on the noisy main access street just steps away , nor on one of the noisy bustling squares or intersections. So it is peaceful. Main landmarks and areas of interest are all within a 15 minute walk.
We stayed at the Carlton for one night at the start and one night at the end of our holiday and we loved it both times. The hotel has a delightful, comfortable ambience and the staff were all terrific, helpful, humorous and professional. It is in a great location, within easy walking distance to the old town, the cathedral and the Guggenheim, amongst other places of interest, with plenty of restaurants and shopping possibilities all around. We will definitely stay again when next in Bilbao.
The place is ok, is in a nice area in Bilbao, like 20 minutos walking to the old town and as well 25 minutes walking to reach Guggenheim, it has some nice bars and restaurants around if you want to have your breakfast there, If you come with a car you have a parking in the hotel and as well a free parking streets 15 min walking distance, we park there and as Bilbao is a safe city we brought our car there for 3 nights, 0 problems.
The rooms are ok, confortable mattress same for the pillow.
We had a great stay here at the Hotel Miro. The location couldn’t be better- just a few minutes from the Guggenheim Museum. Our room had a great view of the museum which made it extra nice. The hotel is also beautiful, with a modern design and lots of art everywhere. We got a package deal with breakfast and 2 tickets to the Guggenheim which was a great value. We would definitely stay here again next time we visit Bilbao. Highly recommend!
Incredible room in a really lovely hotel. Clean and spacious with a great balcony overlooking the fountains in the park, and anything you might need in the room available. Hotel is in a really nice area close to the Guggenheim and an easy walk to the old town and funicular. The man who checked us in was great (I think his name was Zigor) and told us some history of Bilbao alongside a great restaurant recommendation.
Location is perfect, right beside old town but still short stroll to shops in city centre, short walk to Ribera Market where there's cheap tapas upstairs and also beside a nice Square in Old Town to go for drinks and more pinxtos!! Bilbao is food heaven, guggenheim and all the sights are within walking distance, modern hotel, comfy beds, with the nicest shampoo/shower gel I've ever used in a hotel, staff are helpful
The service from the reception was beyond expectations. They messaged me in advance and accepted my small request with a smile. The service from the staff was excellent . The place is clean and taken care of very well. They explained very patiently even the smallest doubt i had being a first timer in Spain. They speak English well. The lobby was a nice place to sit with a lot of good vibes.
I liked everything about this Hotel. We travelled on the ferry from Ireland - very direct route from the port to hotel with convenient underground parking. 10 mins walk to Old Town. Staff very helpful and friendly. It's the place to be for comfort and experiencing Bilbao. I was in Bilbao twice before and wasn't as impressed by a long shot before.
Reception was extremely kind, the room was lovely and modern, location was perfect to walk to old town as well as to the Guggenheim and Fine Arts museum, surrounded by shops and restaurants, and the breakfast at the hotel was the best I’ve had yet in a hotel in Northern Spain. My stay was absolutely perfect, and I would definitely stay here again!
Great hotel in a very good location. It was 5 minutes to the Guggenheim, and 15 to the old town. There were lots of restaurants locally or a short walk away. The hotel was very clean, the room was spacious, and the bed was comfortable. The staff were helpful and very welcoming. I’d recommend the hotel to anyone coming to Bilbao.
Staff is very helpful. Good location - just nearby old town. Tram and bus stops near by. Cafes and bars and grocery stores nearby - no point to take hotel's relatively expensive breakfast. Considering high price levels of Bilbao's hotels Sirimiri seems to have ok price/quality ratio.
Staff were extra hospitable: helping with the car elevator to garage, with suggesting great tapas eatery for our last night in Spain, and we were only steps from the Guggenheim. Our room was riverside and it was lovely to see rowers, other boats.
We loved the location being at the center of town, next to Old Town, close to the Guggenheim and the Bilbao Museum of Fine Arts. Also walking distance to the beautiful churches. Restaurants, cafes and bars also all around the hotel.
Tayko was the nicest hotel we stayed in during our 17 days in Spain. Staff was friendly and helpful at all times. We booked one of the oversized corner rooms which was both beautiful and comfortable.
For less than the cost of many hotels available in Bilbao during the time of our stay, the apartment offered both a private bedroom and a living room with sofa-bed, as well as a kitchen/dining area.
The hotel is centrally located in Bilbao - easy to walk everywhere. The room was very quiet and bed very comfortable. Big plus is parking onsite. Breakfast is very generous with lots of variety.
very good location if you want to explore Bilbao bay foot but still don’t want it to be noisy. outside bar, bar, parking in the hotel, breakfast with a very good variety.
Location was perfect, service was great. Breakfast was good. Customer service exceeded expectations. Will recommend this hotel to my friends in Bilbao. Thank you
