Only about ten minutes walk to be right in the centre. There’s a tram stop right outside the door, easy to buy tickets from the machine at the stop. 1.40 euros a ticket but cheaper if you buy three or more. Room was comfortable, staff very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was very good, all good quality. Under ground parking 10 euros a day useful. Because of the trams some roads are one way, we had to drive past the turning and make several turns to get to it. No bar but there is one a few minutes walk away.

We went to Besancon to visit a friend and had only time for a short walk around the city. We visited Victor Hugo's birthplace which was very informative, and we were delighted to see some Roman ruins preserved in the center of the city. We didn't have time to visit the museum of the Resistance and would very much like to visit it on our next trip there.

Besancon is a nice small French town.
Besancon is a nice small French town. It has a couple things to do in the city, but I feel like the better ones are the Citadelle and parts outside of the city. But you need a vehicle to better reach outside.
I stayed 2 nights during January, it was cold and a bit windy, so going to a higher place was out of the question.
Th Time Museum and Victor Hugo's birthplace are pretty cool to visit and not expensive.
Lastly, I felt that people in Besancon were very friendly.

The nature is nice.
The nature is nice. You can make different walks in and around the town.
The busconnection is perfect en cheap. So you can leave the car at the hotel. You don't have to look for a parking near the town.
There are more museums than we aspected. Only the museum of resistance was closed.

In summer not all restaurants are open for business.
In summer not all restaurants are open for business. So it is wise to make reservations because it is busy. There is not a lot of trees, flowers, parks so the city looks a bit "stoney" / not romantic. The citadel is nice to visit though with children.

Tiny place and the shower was blocked, so we didn't use it.
Tiny place and the shower was blocked, so we didn't use it. It is a good choice for an emergency stop while traveling (in my case, from Germany to France) because of the location. I think they could do better.

Wished we could have stayed longer to visit Besancon!
Wished we could have stayed longer to visit Besancon! We only stopped overnight on our way back to Germany but saw the Citadelle lit up at night and had a 20min wander in the morning before heading out. The city looked really interesting to visit and wander around for at least a full day or two. Might look into going back through in the future to see more of it.
This is an amazing apartment! It overlooks Revolutionary Square and the Doubs River! The views were wonderful and it so so fun just sitting by the window watching everything outside! The location is safe. The building is historic! It's clean, spacious and bright. Lots of restautants nearby! There are two separate bedrooms. One bedroom has the view of the Square and the other bedroom has the view of the river! The livingroom is comfortable. There's a large kitchen and a big diningroom table. We loved the apartment. A+++++
The hotel is on our list when we traveling to Spain and back. Just off the motorway. The free park car is gated and secure. Beds are comfortable and clean. Small batchroom but shower room comfortable. They accepting dogs for 7 euro. Restaurant on side. Perfect place for stop while traveling. Our pomeranian remebers the place and we arriving there she knows were she is.
Staff on reception are always profesjonal and very nice. They speak english.
Reception went very well. Requested and received two card keys which was very useful as card needed in room for lighting. Good sized room with kettle to make tea and two towels each. Bit of space to move around in. Parking on site very convenient. There was a pool table and table football next to the bar. Staff were very pressed as there was a Champion Hand Ball team staying at hotel.
We had a great stay at the Ibis hotel La City in besancon, the room was clean and mostly quiet and the beds were good. The breakfast was very good: croissants, pain au chocolats, madeleines, fresh bread, fruit, cheese, bacon, a well and exclusive breakfast. We will come back to Ibis and visit the beautiful city of Besancon, merci Ibis.
Breakfast was fine always limited for me as a vegan especially in France so have to accept certain limitations
The hotel is right on the water front with public parking nearby with helpful directions from the staff the patron.
Small and bijou it is a little gem in the heart of Besancon old town
Only location. It was close to the highway we used. There is a Carefure market nearby and shopping mall when we had chance to eat something as restaurant in hotel were closed. Hotel has free parking but it is not secure parking. There are two petrol stations with cheap price compared to highway.
it is a 1 night type of hotel
not much to do or see in besancon and the hotel is fine but not I pressure
the value you get for the money is very good though so it you want to stay for 1 or 2 nights: this is a good deal hotel and the breakfast is quite good as well
Very spacious, clean, and distinguished by having a small two-person sauna which works well. modern kitchen, and a great shower. Close to the route up the citadel, the time museum, Victor Hugo museum, and bus routes.
A lovely little hotel in the old part of Besançon. We particularly liked the great views of the city from our room. Breakfast was good and the restaurant was excellent, it’s just a shame it’s not open on weekends.
The apartment is spacious, quiet and well situated. It is only a short walk to the old town, and very close to Besançon Viotte train station. The bed was very comfortable and the host was easily contactable.
The hotel works 24/7 so it's very convenient if you arrive late at night. The breakfast is included but be prudent and watch weather the receptionist indicated that in your check in paper.
