Vert Lodge Chamonix, hotel in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc

Originally built in 1851, Vert Lodge is an original piece of Chamonix History and is located next to Gaillands Lake and Climbing Wall, only 15 minutes' walk from the centre.

The location is superb. Have a view of the mountains and a nice little lake like waterbody and a park. The room is very cozy. The fact that the lodge is built in the 1800s made the stay special.

Second time staying here. The staff is so nice, and the hotel is super warm and comfortable. The pool is heated to 26 C, so swimmable even in cool weather. The hotel was very welcoming of our 3 toy poodles. We also love how there is parking available. We plan to stay longer next time and enjoy the amenities.

I am slightly disabled in that my mobility is restricted by arthritis. Chamonix is a beautiful town in itself but it can be difficult to get around at night.I wanted to check out the live music scene but had real difficulty with transport.Although it is free,or cheap all day it is nearly impossible to get a taxi (unless I have been calling the wrong numbers!).I was told by some locals that they are tied up doing airport runs, how true this is I don't know. I think if you have similar problems then book a long time ahead or online.Otherwise the place is brilliant you have breathtaking views of the high mountains above, alpine meadows and a town that wants for nothing. It is easy to visit Les houches Argentiere and all the beautiful ski areas, even if you can't ski there are mountain railways and cable cars. Expensive but well with it. It is becoming my second home now.

A many time visitor, easy to get about on buses or train and some of the best off-piste there is anywhere. Looking forward to the re-opening of the top cable car so the biggest / best runs will be accessible once again. CMD make sure you don't go down the road Vial and Alterra have taken (selling season passes and driving up day tickets to drive sales of these products and thus maxing out their profits) - On vous voyons!!

Skiing in Chamonix is extreemly snow dependant.

Skiing in Chamonix is extreemly snow dependant. Should you be lucky enough to have several days of powder, each of the individual resourts are more than large enough with loads of off-piste opportunites to ski. However, as this is a season with limitid snow conditions, each individual resourt becomes too small, with too many people on the piste, as there is too litle snow in the terrain. As such, I would much rather recommend the surronding resorts such as Courmayeur or Verbier for a weeks stay, as you then get away from the dayly transport with busses etc. The need to tranfere between the different resorts to ski by buss is also a negative aspect, as it is pure madness with everyone trying to get on the first bus that comes. I would definitely not recommend Chamonix for families based on this, as younger children would strugle with the stampede.... As a town Chamonix has a lot to offer, with good shops and resturants, but as a ski destination, I will probably not return, but head off to larger interconnected resorts.

The Chamonix valley provides some of the most amazing alpine scenery anywhere. The mountains are stunning and the opportunities for ski and snowboard adventures in winter are endless. That said, this is not the best choice for beginners or early intermediate skiers or boarders. The majority of the terrain is challenging. Also, be prepared to take the free ski bus up and down the valley to experience all that Chamonix has to offer. The main town has an abundance of great restaurants, bars and shops, but consider staying in one of the quieter villages along the valley if you want to avoid the crowds in peak season.

It’s a really impressive town but lacks the charm of an alpine resort such as Avoriaz or Morzine. Logistics are incredibly troublesome getting to a from slopes. We had to really on bus service which is unreliable, overcrowded and insufficient. It’s definitely not somewhere to take young kids. It really has an adult feel about the place

    it is heaven on earth.

it is heaven on earth. I am so at peace when there. 3 months last year. one month this year 2 months next year. you don't go back if it was poor. I ski but if you don't ski there is still plenty to do. I have so much more to explore. the views are unreal. food is more expensive, but I live on a very tight budget and for me it's the same as home. the bus services are great, you can spend a week just exploring on them and are usually free.

the hotel was an upscale property at an affordable price. The spa was very nice. The location-perfect! The staff very friendly and gave us valuable information to help with our hikes and stay in Chamonix. We are currently staying at a competing hotel, on the same trip, but the accommodations (though similarly priced) simply do not compete with Heliopic Hotel. They are not even close. For that reason, we feel it is cheaper, and worth it, to cancel the last couple nights at the competing hotel and stay at Heliopic again, which we are doing.

The staff was kind and professional. We stayed here after we finished hiking the Tour du Mont Blanc and it was the perfect place to rest and recuperate. The hotel unexpectedly upgraded our room which was very much appreciated! The hotel is right next to a bus stop which runs every 30 minutes during the summer (easy to get into the town center). The beds were very comfortable as well and it has a bar and restaurant downstairs to eat at. We highly recommend and would stay again.

We loved staying at Hotel Le Refuge des Aiglons. We flew into Geneva from the U.S. and took the bus to Chamonix, the hotel was just what we needed after that long journey. The room was comfortable, clean, and quiet so we slept off the jet lag there. It was wonderful to use the pool and saunas after a fun day in the mountains. I highly recommend this accomodation for anyone traveling to beautiful Chamonix, it will make your experience that much more enjoyable.

Great location not far from Brevent/ flegere although we drove 5 mins to Les Grand Montets every day. Breakfast was great and the rooms were excellent, at least as good as any 4 star hotel we've had in Chamonix. Bathroom was fresh and lovely, much better than 4 star hotels we've been in in Chamonix. Staff were friendly and helpful. Outdoor hot tub a big hit along with the sauna. All round excellent hotel, we will be back.

The hotel is in a great location, nestled close to the mountains and only a short walk from the center of town and the cable car to l'Aiguille du Midi. The train station is next door, and using the train to get around the valley is very convenient. We went at the end of July, and Chamonix is absolutely beautiful during the summer months.
