We did wish that we could have stayed longer in Banavie and we would certainly come back to explore more of the area especially if visiting Ben Nevis. Neptune's staircase was an unexpected pleasure and it was so picturesque. We viewed this from 'The Moorings hotel' where we also had a lovely meal. Will definitely return.

Banavie is not the prettiest of villages but it’s a great location if you don’t like the larger town of Fort William. I think the local Council should consider sprucing up the area around Neptune’s Stairway and the railway station as they are both interesting sites, especially with the Harry Potter steam train passing through daily on the way to Mallaig. The local chippie, Sammys is highly recommended.

It was very close to Fort William but I think a car is necessary to get about outside of the immediate area.
Our favourite place to eat was the Ben Nevis Inn at the start of the footpath to Ben Nevis.
There are many activities including of course climbing Ben Nevis, There are other great walks eg along Glen Nevis and along the Caledonian Canal, the latter also to be enjoyed by bike. The Jacobite train (as in Harry Potter) starts at Fort William (booking advised).
Travel up the coast to find the beautiful white sands of Morar, even more beautiful when the sun shines!

Loved the area. Stunning place to visit. Weather was great for the week. Plenty of walks & near the canal & trains. Unfortunately the accommodation was a bit basic in some regards, but interesting property & great location.
