A little oasis in the wild and woolly Borders with beautiful scenic surroundings. Rooms were well equipped with a warm and comfy bed. Slept like a log both nights. Breakfast was marvelous and a good home cooked menu on offer during the evening. Complimentary whiskey in the room was a nice wee touch. Alan and Sharon couldn't do enough for us and nothing was too much trouble. Loved everything about the place and can't recommend the Tushielaw Inn highly enough.

The staff, bar, restaurants, housekeeping, reception obviously well trained to a very high standard. Everyone very polite, helpful, and very clean to high standard, went out of their way to assist. The food was excellent. I would definitely stay again and definitely recommend.

An interesting looking town that I would like to get to know better. Excellent meals out at the Fleece Inn and Kitchen and at Number One Bistro. The Riding of the Marches was on which showed the community spirit.

Selkirk is a small border town with small individual shops and cafes. We stayed 3 nights at Philipburn Hotel on the edge of Selkirk and really used it as a base to tour around other places in the borders, Floors Castle, Kelso, Melrose, Scotts View.

There's not a lot actually in Selkirk - it is suffering as are so many places with the impact of C-19, but it's a good base for Holy Island and the Roslyn Chapel.
We booked the County Hotel as it's in the centre and as we were travelling by motorcycle wanted to be at somewhere that provided food or was available in walking distance.

Selkirk is perhaps a little over-shadowed by the Peebles,...
Selkirk is perhaps a little over-shadowed by the Peebles, Jedburgh and Kelso within the Scottish Borders and while undoubtedly smaller should not be overlooked. There are a number of museums and Haining Park and Loch, just a few minutes' walk from the town centre, is great for woodland walks and a circuit of pretty Haining Loch. There are a few restaurants, including pub-dining, Chinese and Thai, in the town centre together with a range of take-aways. Selkirk makes a good base for a visit to the Scottish Borders and is a well-located stopping off point for a few days if travelling further north within Scotland and headling south into England.
The double room was fresh and clean upon arrival. With unseasonably hot weather, we were glad that fans were available for each room upon request. The rooms were cozy and nicely decorated. The staff were courteous and the breakfast was very good. The private, off-street parking was accessible and spacious. There are a variety of restaurants in Selkirk from which to choose, as well as numerous attractions within easy driving distance.
Sonny greated us on our arrival and throughout our stay was extremely polite and knowledgeable. Nothing was too much trouble. This is a family run hotel and the whole family had the same ethos their visitors are special. The property was refurbished during lockdown and is of an exceptional standard whilst inkeeping of the ye old period complete with coal fire. The staircase is magnificent 👌
Absolutely delighted with our stay! The hospitality from Sonny, his wee ma and the team was exceptional. Sonny in particular was so attentive and made it such a warm and welcoming experience. The meals (breakfasts and dinner) were fantastic. The hotel's picturesque location added to the charm, and the hotel itself is lovely. Can't praise it enough, I just hope we manage to return soon ❤️
We did not realise the hotel was 15 miles from the town of Selkirk, (we were on a hiking trip) but the owner immediately offered to come and pick us up. The restaurant was closed because of her birthday, but she invited us to join the party and offered us a free meal. The only thing we had to do in return was sing karaoke:-) We had a lovely evening with very friendly people!
Breakfast was an option, but we opted instead to use the communal refrigerator and eat a cold breakfast that we purchased at the nearby market. We were offered the use of the area for dinner if we had wanted to get takeaway. That type of flexibility is nice when you have been traveling for a while.
Spacious rooms, fitted out to a very high standard. A wide selection of books and board games. Fully stocked with kitchenware, bathroom & cleaning products. Spotlessly clean. A lovely quiet area in the countryside, but only a mile from Selkirk. Loved watching the swifts darting around outside.
Everything about the hotel was lovely. It was a beautiful clean room with a lovely view and the breakfast was delicious. You decided the night before from a selection of options what you would like and so everything was just as you wanted the next morning.
Excellent hotel close to Selkirk Centre. The hotel is furnished in traditional country house style with lots of interesting contents and paintings on display.Although traditional in style the house is in excellent order.
The breakfast was phenomenal and we enjoyed it a lot. The owners of the hotel are very friendly and supportive. We are recommending the hotel and we will join the hotel again when we visit again the scottish borders.
Family run hotel and the nicest family you could wish to meet. Rooms were comfy and we both liked the decor. Great food too. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and no hesitation in recommending Heatherlie House Hotel.
A quiet hotel with very friendly staff. A good cooked breakfast every day and very reasonably priced evening meals. no problems with parking and located in glorious countryside.
The inn is located in a hilly area next to a river, relatively far from villages etc, making it an ideal quiet location for nature walks and other outdoor activities.
