The room we were first given was noisy at certain times because it was directly over the kitchen. We were moved to a different room for the second night which was at front of the hotel and much better.

Beautiful village setting in rural Somerset.
Beautiful village setting in rural Somerset. Must be a driver to get around, although there are very basic amenities on the doorstep. If not eating out within the village you need to have a plan of where you are going to eat (google and trip advisor are your friend here). Supermarkets are about 5-7 miles away so you need to have a plan for this kind of trip.

it is a pretty little town. i love the hill behind the high street. next time i go i’ll make sure i’ll visit on a weekday and saturday (there’s a market). i live in london and visiting a town like castle cary is very special. it’s quiet with beautiful cottages. i really love going up and down the hills, seeing the lovely town and spotting the tor from the top of the hill. it’ll be lovely to ride a bike and go to other town near by.

Castle Cary was form our trips around the county a typical Somerset town with easy access to other places such as Shepton Mallet and Wells. however like so many other places people/businesses were recovering from COVID but don't let that deter you. If travelling from the west avoid the A303 at all costs!
All the staff were fantastic including Pip the manager and we were so well taken care of . Even our 3 small dogs were fussed over by all the locals in the bar sat next to a log fire drinking a local pint of beer ! What’s not to like . The evening meal was exceptional and the next day breakfast set us up for our 200 mile drive home . A great location in the centre of the picturesque village and a great walk onto the top of the hills with just behind the hotel this really is a very special place .
The property was centrally located, with easy access to the numerous museums and gardens in the vicinity.
The room was very spacious and additionally there was a private separate lounge only for our use. The bathroom/toilet was spacious and spotless, as was everything about the accommodation.
The breakfasts were excellent.
The owners were very helpful and helped us to plan our excursions.
We highly recommend this excellent bed and breakfast "hotel"
Plum cottage is a lovely period cottage in a fantastic quiet location in the centre of Castle Cary. Access was easy and all information very helpful. The cottage has been very nicely decorated in keeping with its cottage style and age and is very clean and well maintained. The courtyard garden is pretty and a lovely sun trap, where we enjoyed sitting at any time of day.
Communication with the owner was pleasant and a very prompt response.
Avalon is owned and operated by a friendly, elegant couple who keep their home in immaculate condition. It is spacious, well appointed, has high ceilings, picturesque views of a garden, farm fields and Castle Cary. Frances prepared wonderful breakfasts with tasty options. The house is next to Ellesmere House another B&B. They are virtually the same in size. While also nice, I would return to Avalon House as my first choice.
Great place for a little short break. There are no hosts at the property, you let yourself in with a code, we had the top floor modern bedroom which was beautifully furnished and spotlessly clean. There was a very nice shared kitchen with a great coffee machine, tea, hot chocolate and milk, also a pretty garden to sit in. Its right in the centre of Castle Cary and plenty of free parking spaces outside the door.
We were visiting friends in the area so the location suited us from that point of view. The cottage was comfortable, quiet and cosy. The kitchen was well equipped. The oven was not working during our visit, the owners were aware and had provided an air fryer as a substitute which was good.
The location is close to Castle Cary railway station which was a plus point.
Hues was easy to find in Castle Cary, and the instructions to get into the apartment were straightforward. The room was great, clean and well appointed. The breakfast room was well equipped, clean and well stocked. The concept of three unique rooms/apartments with a communal breakfast room works so well. It was a great base for me for the 4 nights I was there.
Absolute gem! House was beautifully presented and super clean. Chris responded really quickly to my questions and could even give recommendations outside of Castle Cary for things to do. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again or at another of Chris’ other properties.
Pet-friendly, quiet place, friendly host and easy communication, big shower, phone chargers, convenient location, cute deco (would recommend adding some hooks maybe?), clean and in general good value for the price
Hewlett’s Mill is a little piece of heaven located near Castle Cary. We had a lovely room with comfy bed. The breakfast was yummy and the hosts were really welcoming. We will definitely be coming back. Thank you!
The kind and helpful hospitality of Melanie and Martin in their fascinating home.
It’s a short walk in to beautiful Castle Cary.
We had a very relaxing stay. Thank You.
Excellent apartment in the heart of Castle Cary. Obviously, it is just refurbished as everything is in top condition. Chris is very helpful and easy to contact too.
