The staff were very friendly. The food was pub food but we all enjoyed our Sunday dinner. We had the family room for just the two of us, so there was plenty of room and the bonus of a small kitchen and fridge.

The location perfect, staff couldn’t have been more helpful, friendly and courteous.
Our meals really enjoyable, and breakfast time so relaxing, what a way to start any day. No rush, and a wonderful example of British excellence!

We stayed for a single night but were made very welcome. The room was spacious and very nice, with a clean and very functional en-suite. The food, dinner and breakfast, was very good, as was the Wensleydale Bitter

Beautiful little village nestled in the dales, I only stayed one night, but the area really was beautiful, lovely round the bridge very lose to the Arncliffe Arms.
My stay was to take photos in Whitby which I did but came back early to enjoy a drink at the pub.

The surroundings, it’s beautiful countryside. Train and bus service just round the corner. Great food, excellent hosts, basic rooms but clean and everything you need. Breakfast excellent . Just 10 miles from Whitby. No noise from the pub in my room. Very hilly by foot and car but stunning views.

Admittedly, on the two occasions I've stayed here, I haven't explored the village itself much or the surrounding area. I've spent most of the day in between visiting Whitby and the North Yorkshire Moors Railway (one of many activities that you, the reader, could get up to, should you decide to visit also). It is, however, easy enough to get around, the Arncliffe Arms is a great restaurant in terms of food quality (especially if you're staying there) and the Beggar's Bridge near the railway station is one place in particular that makes a tranquil retreat if your interest isn't necessarily transport focused. So, by all means, do try it out and see what you think.

One of numerous villages scattered among the Moors.
One of numerous villages scattered among the Moors. Good centre for walking and getting to Whitby, "Aidensfield" (goathland),the Esk and the woods and moors. Built of typical stone and somewhat lowering in the rain on the "rare ?" occasions when it rains.

The only facility we used in Glaisdale was the local pub for an evening meal. on driving through it, it is a beautiful village. You do need a car though to get anywhere, but was perfect for our needs.
The location was very near to Heartbeat country and is surrounded by beautiful scenery and the moors. The pub itself is busy with a great atmosphere. My room was a bit small but clean and comfy. Breakfast was in the bar and was very nice, served by a cheerful lady. I arrived late in the evening, after the kitchen had closed, but they offered to rustle something up for me if i wanted . I didn't but it was a nice gesture
The property was absolutely perfect, we really loved staying here for 2 nights and had a wonderful time visiting Rievaulx Abbey (on the way), Danby Lodge (nearby) and Rosedale (on the way back). We had a lovely meal at the Wheatsheaf at Egton. We also enjoyed walking down the village to Beggar's Bridge (by the railway station), though note that it is quite a steep climb back up.
All the staff were extremely friendly. The bedrooms, although basic, were very comfortable. The pub food was exactly as described and wholesome. The pub is situated actually on the Coast to Coast ldw and this makes it an ideal stopover, as it was for us. The views along the dale are great. The landlord gave us good advice on the best route to use to continue our walk.
Great location in a quiet Yorkshire village, views from the garden were wonderful. The welcome guide gave lots of good local information and recommendations.
Both beds were comfortable and the cottage was well equipped.
It was a nice touch to leave firewood for the two wood burners but as it was warm, we did not need to use them.
We booked the Green specifically so that we could go walking on the moors. The location is great.
Simon met us at the property and recommended shops/ restaurants and stuff nearby, which was brill - very many thanks.
Really relaxed, pretty remote/ quiet location - good WiFi (which impressed the kids!) - would definitely recommend.
Friendly, helpful staff, superb breakfast, gorgeous views from the front bedroom, a cosy little proper pub, with rooms to stay.
Lots of walks from the door, including the stunning Esk Valley Way. Trains too, Whitby in half an hour.... although we didn't get to use the service this time.
We hope to stay here again
Accommodating hosts, good food. Was right next to the coast to coast path which we were following - very convenient. Able to do an early (7:30) breakfast which was great as we needed to leave early. Stored our bikes securely in the cellar.
Wonderful cosy cottage, equipped with everything we needed and more. Lots of extras. Warm welcome from Rosie, an extremely helpful host. Great views and immediate access to moorland walks. The hot tub was a real bonus.
