A small historical town needing a bit of TLC, but perfectly situated for getting around a beautiful part of Scotland.
Just off the A78. An excellent place to eat is the Corner House, delicious food, reasonably priced.
Good taxi services, I don't know about public transport.

Eglington Park is stunning. The Abbey amazing.
Eglington Park is stunning. The Abbey amazing. I’m sure there was much more to see but we were only there for an overnight stay. We will definitely go back even if it’s just to enjoy the hospitality at Nethermains House. Thank you so much Margaret you are an Angel with invisible wings 🥰
I arrived at hotel at around 23:00. just to be informed by staff member that they closed hotel as they got problem with water pipes. I sked if i can stay as it was to late to find anything else but they say no.
all fone BUT nobody inform me about that before my arrival and i had received confirmation wiht all the details from booking.com. This night i could not find anything else as there was not enough time and hotels near by been full, I ended for whole night on train station. Thank you Taylor`s Hotel!! :/
Do not go here expecting hotel luxury, it is a guest house and is run partially in support of the local school. The room was good for the overnight stay which I had booked, a bit small, but then there was only me. En-suite was newly installed, wi-fi was really strong and breakfast was as I would eat at home, nothing spectacular but prepared me for my return drive. I had an evening meal which was fresh produce and good value.
Family run business was made fell Very welcome compared to most hotels who just judge you on one look very attentive and a great value for money if I'm completely honest they could easily charge an extra £10-£20 per room also I just add there food is exceptional especially the steak pie witch my partner had tonight's in a row
We were only staying one night as we were attending a Engagement Party in the hotel and live over an hour away. The staff were great and welcoming. Room was nice and cosy with a kettle, tea and a few wee biscuits. The bar is also reasonably priced if you like a drink whislt you stay.
as I was with my fiance we did not end up staying, and went to a hotel.
was a double room and separate lounge, the kitchen and toilet where shared with the owner, and my partner did not feel comfortable about this.
Room was clean. Fresh bedding and towels. Small cosmetics in a bathroom even if you forgot your own (like me). Generaly hotel is not very modern but for this price was really nice base for Scotland trips.
