The Pitlochry Hydro Hotel, hotel in Pitlochry

The Pitlochry Hydro Hotel is set just outside the town of Pitlochry and offers fantastic views of the Perthshire Highlands. It features a spa, an indoor pool and a restaurant.

The breakfast was fantastic, although a little pricey. But given that you could eat as much as you want, it was worth it. We loved the pool and hot tub but the hot tub could have been on a little longer. Staff were great and helpful. The view was ok. It was nice to sit out and enjoy the surroundings. Our dinner, again a little pricey but was delicious as we both had the steak. The hotel was very quiet and didn't get bothered with noise or anything. Had a bottle of prosecco delivered to the room which we ordered. Nice big grand hotel. Easy enough check in. We enjoyed sitting in the garden area and looking at the hotel from a different angle.

The restaurants and nightlife were excellent considering the size of Pitlochry. Reasonable range of shops, not too tacky. Found accommodation relatively expensive compared to cities ie Glasgow, Dundee and on a par with Edinburgh.

    Beautiful and friendly.

Beautiful and friendly. The village is lovely with a good choice of bars, cafes and restaurants. There are great walks and excellent opportunities for cycling. There are some interesting shops too and if you're into tweed, I don't think you'll be disappointed. EV charging is supplied by Charge Scotland - get the app and open an account to make it work. There is a selection of fast and rapid chargers on-site at the train/bus station. Overall, you get a lovely calming feeling as you walk around.

I would definitely recommend Pitlochry as a place to stay. Its at the heart of a fantastic part of the world. Mountains, Hills, Glens, Rivers. A gateway to so much more. The town is a great base. Full of places to eat, and a suprising amount of things to do. Just go.

We first visited Pitlochry in autumn 2019 - it was delightful then - it’s now spring 2024 - just as enjoyable, not a lot has changed. The main shopping precinct is busy with bus tours and particularly with tourists over the weekend - early mornings are best to get a seat in a coffee shop . To beat the crowds, take the suspension bridge across Tummel River to the Port-na-Craig area - the stone cottages and pub by the river bank is a tranquil area to enjoy. Continue along the walking path to the ‘salmon ladder’ and beyond to Faskally Wood or much further to the Killiecrankie Visitors Centre.

The property was so nice and clean. Upon arrival the staff was very friendly and informative. The owner gave us recommendations for dinner and a beautiful stroll through town. The rooms were large, updated with towel heaters and comfortable beds. The breakfast was delicious with a large selection. We loved the adorable town with great food and shopping and upon leaving the owner helped us print some needed documents. If we return to Scotland this will definitely be one of our stops!

I like the size of the single room with high ceilings. I liked the quietness, window curtains and I enjoyed the access to a swimming pool (wish its length could be longer), jacuzzi and sauna! The building is very old with its own character. Maybe the corridors look a bit 'scary', maybe some updating will help :) Staff is friendly and helpful. Great location to explore this little gem of Scotland! Thank you for a nice and peaceful stay :)

The Old Mill is situated in the heart of Pitlochry, with walks and tourist attractions on your doorstep, as well as shops, restaurants and pubs. The hotel itself is very lively and buzzy, with a hustling bar and restaurant. The staff are exceptional, a real stand out on our visit. Everyone was super efficent and friendly. The rooms are very spacious and modern and the beds large and comfortable. We shall most certainly return.

The hotel manager/barman was brilliant, lovely man who couldn't do enough for us. We had a few drinks and a sing song in the hotel bar with a couple local regulars. Well placed for travel ito Pitlochry and Dunkeld. Room was immaculately clean, beds very comfortable, you can see the effort that is being put into the renovation. The little tearoom attached to the hotel made a lovely breakfast.

Beautiful hotel in a beautiful spot, great choice at breakfast (including poached eggs on request which made me very happy). Staff are so helpful and friendly. Room was very spacious and comfy and the bathroom was excellent. Very close to the shops and restaurants in Pitlochry and the local visitor attractions. We didn't try the restaurant in the evening but certainly will next time.

Great location and easy walking distance to town. The host was wonderful giving us suggestions of places to eat and things to do. He even let my husband borrow a rag. The host texted us when the room was ready so we could check in early. Breakfast was very good and you could choose various options. Pitlochry was a really cute town.

This is my second time staying in the Hydro Hotel and it was amazing. We paid for half board and the menu was good, fish and chips was amazing. Breakfast was good also. We had a small double room which was spacious and comfortable and the shower was great. The facilities are good. Drink prices are reasonable. £10 for late checkout.

This was the best B&B on our week-long tour of Scotland! The room was gorgeous - comfortable bed, plenty of room, lots of electric sockets, great bathroom. Wonderful view of the gardens and Pitlochry, and so quiet, yet only a 2-minute walk down to the main street. Great breakfast too.
