Very friendly lady running the place who is welcoming and makes you feel right at home. The breakfast is fantastic and alterations for allergies and intolerances were no problem at all.

The house and garden were very well cared for. We sat out in the late afternoon with the perfume of a stunning Wisteria wafting over us. The bedroom and en suite were both spacious and well equipped. We had a hearty breakfast to start our day and were very impressed with the quality of everything.

It was beautifully decorated - lots of individual style with everything you might want but not too crowded. Real character in the building, maximised by the decorative style.
It was a great location - lovely views (the A40 is in the distance but we quickly got used to that), a quiet street but super close to the town centre and all its amenities.
I'm not used to parking on a hill but even though we came at high season I was always able to drop passengers off opposite the door and then park downhill on the flat.
Plenty of kitchen equipment.
Everything very clean and very fresh.
Ross itself is full of character. I've never seen so independents. There are also plenty of lovely things to do a short drive away (I didn't check out public transport).

Lots of information about activities and sights available to peruse in the sitting room. The kitchen/eating area was bright, sunny and airy. There were plenty of utensils, plates etc. It was quiet in the evenings.

Ross is an interesting town full of history.
Ross is an interesting town full of history. It is also central to the area for trips out. There are activities in the area, especially if you like the outdoors, all within a half hours drive.
It is close to Hereford, Ledbury, Symonds Yat and the Wye Valley in general, The Forest of Dean, Monmouth, Gloucester and any other place you might wish to visit for the day. Chepstow is a little further but worth the visit.
The roads are generally good A roads and the M50 gets you quickly to the M5.

Rather disappointed.
Rather disappointed. Town looked tired and had seen better days. Difficult to walk along the river for all the bushes. Having said that, it did rain every day and nowhere looks good unless the sun shines

lovely little town with all sorts of shops to cater for everyone, we had our own food but bought a few bits in the town also visited the architectural store for the second time for quirky buys. A must to visit is Baileys home not far outside Ross on Wye on the Hereford road i simply wanted everything in there!!
The building is lovely, lots of steps but plenty of handrails. There is a terrace so you can sit outside. The staff are super friendly and available for anything you need. You are given a code so you can come and go when you want and the parking is close by.
There was a heater in the room so you have heat when the heating is off. There was a fireplace in the room although it was blocked off and not usable. Plenty of character and furniture. There was also a good sized washbasin in the room.
Very welcoming and helpful host. Super location close to the town and pubs. Also super convenient for the 2 day canoe trip I was on as it's only 5 min walk from the halfway stop off point. The hotel has a very rustic feel and original features harking back to its origins, which as the host told me are from the 1600 to 1400's! Super place to stay and if I'm ever coming back to Ross in the future definitely somewhere I'd look to book again. Fantastic price point for the hospitality you receive.
A perfectly located retreat with a first class restaurant in which to enjoy the evening.
From arrival to departure, the owners and staff made me feel very at home and the service level delivered on the promise of this lovely hotel.
My room had great views across the apple orchard at the front of the hotel and I enjoyed my stay, albeit one night only. Will definitely return and thoroughly recommend a stay for business or pleasure.
The hotel is tastefully decorated with a lovely area to relax and have a drink. There is also a beautiful garden with a superb view of the river Wye, countryside, and the church in Ross on Wye.
The breakfast was high quality set in an exquisite dining room, and the hosts were very friendly, attentive, and nothing was too much trouble.
Good off the road parking at the rear of the property.
Fabulous old farmhouse to stay in Sheila an Guy have done a fabulous job at renovating
Excellent hosts a really enjoyable breakfast and comfortable rooms
The management of Covid precautions was extremely good and you felt safe at all times
Not too far from Ross town centre for something to eat in the evening
Highly recommended in a lovely location
Orles Barn is an exceptional hotel. Roxy and Matt are the nicest, kindest people you will ever meet. The food (Matt is the chef) is quite simply the best I've tasted in any hotel anywhere! You will be treated like royalty at the hands of Roxy, who is such a warm and genuine person. I LOVE staying here and cannot recommend Orles Barn highly enough.
Accommodation was fine, just what we were expecting. Would have liked to know about the road closure, all the signs were saying business open as usual, not knowing where the hotel was compared to the road closure, we had a very disgruntled local saying we shouldn't be at the closure. The detour was not good for a small sports car.
The way that our host was easy to contact, very friendly and welcoming. The apartment was modern whilst retaining some of its original features, very tidy, clean and felt homely and grand. A real treat. Add in parking on site, a beautiful garden and town centre location. Just perfect, we hope to visit again soon.
Excellent breakfast and very nice dinning room. Great service by friendly staff. Didn't stay for dinner because I was visiting a friend in Ross each evening. Would definitely recommend the Castle Lodge, very welcoming hosts, excellent value, great facilities and conveniently situated to Ross on Wye.
Very relaxing atmosphere within the hotel, the food was top class, presented well and good quality, with great portion sizes.
Room was clean and tidy, and we were lucky to have our request of a bath honoured.
good view of Ross town centre and the river wye from our window.
well located in centre of Ross, but quiet. nice character to the hotel.
extensive views from the room of the wye valley. good breakfast and food in restaurant was decent value.
quite a walk up the stairs with cases to the second floor, not one for the less able bodied!
Breakfast was excellent felt sorry for the staff having to run up and down stairs serving food. Location was very good as the town 300 yards away just as it was uphill from hotel other than that position great also over looking the river.
Very old building. Has its charm. Clean, comfortable bed, friendly staff, nice bar. On site parking area, but you will need good driving skills to get inside, very tight entrance.
Excellent little hotel tucked away on the edge of Ross. Super comfy and well appointed rooms, beautiful garden area and a super breakfast.
Really friendly welcome.
Views amazing from double rooms. Comfortable bed in our room. Restaurant very good, good choice on menu. Staff all lovely, friendly but also efficient.
