First time staying at this hotel and it was fairly easy to find and within walking distance of the bus station in Shanklin. The hotel has a map of Shanklin available at the reception, so you can find out where to go to get to places nearby.
From the Red Jet terminal the No.1 bus leaves from outside the Co-Op store nearby to Newport and the No.3 bus from Newport goes to Shanklin via Rookley, Wroxall & Ventnor at the moment due to various landslip road closures in the area; but travel around the island is pretty easy by bus. Bus timetables are available at the Red Funnel Red-Jet terminal in West Cowes, Ferry terminal in East Cowes; at Fishbourne (wightlink) and Ryde (Red Funnel).
The hotel is quite an old property with quite a few corridors and stairs and does not have a lift to use, however it does have a few rooms on the ground floor available. Though I had a comfortable & quiet (except for the rooks nesting in the roof above) single room on the top floor with a window out to the street below. Plenty of storage but a small room with a single bed.
Breakfast was included in the price and I had a Full English cooked breakfast (pork sausage, bacon, egg, fried tomato, fried bread & baked beans) with a good helping of toast, butter, jam & cup of tea - just right to set you up for exploring the island more. The hotel has quite a nice green area where you can sit, and relax, if you smoke there is an ashtray on the outside wall by the door. There is also a glimpse of a sea view through the foliage from the green area too. I would imagine it could very busy in high summer season and there are quite a lot of other hotels and guest houses in the vicinity.

Loved the evening bar. Loved the pool although used it only once due to weather. Loved the breakfast and the fact that you could have cooked breakfast too, was extra special - all delicious. The coffee was generous in quantity and excellent. The service so kind and friendly. It was lovely to see the dogs around the hotel too. Even as a cat lover it was fun to have them there. The gardens were super and the view breathtaking.

It depends on what you like.
It depends on what you like. For me it is a typical Victorian seaside town, and the types of facilities on the seafront reflect this. Certainly it has much of what a family is looking for regarding entertainment, although some of the hotels did appear a bit run down. From a walking viewpoint it is lovely, although less mobile visitors may find some of the inclines a bit challenging!

A steep walk down to the Promenade which is clean and flat.
A steep walk down to the Promenade which is clean and flat. There is a good clean beach and amusements for children. Lift up and down to the promenade during the day . The old part of the town was worth a visit. Good place to eat with home cooked food and owned by the same family for over 30 years was The village Inn. Town centre a bit run down and typical of seaside town. Lots of pensioners on coach party holidays. Thorougly enjoyed Osborne House , weather permitting you could spend the day there. Due to the cost of the car ferry we will probably not visit the Isle again.

Shanklin and Sandown are beautiful beaches but both towns...
Shanklin and Sandown are beautiful beaches but both towns are dying. Shops empty etc. Parking expensive and a nightmare to find which took a lot of the enjoyment out of the trip. Parking charged 24 hours 7 days a week.

The hotel is located in old Shanklin which is delightful.
The hotel is located in old Shanklin which is delightful. The main part of Shanklin is run down and not appealing. Despite this it has an excellent beach and would be a good place for a beach holiday with the right weather.
We booked sea view room in this hotel for couple of nights. The Ocean view room was absolutely fantastic with personal balcony and ensuite bathroom. The outdoor sitting space was lovely for breakfast and spending time with your loved ones. It's just few minutes walking distance from Shanklin beach.
The staff was very polite and helpful. They keep our luggages for few hours after check out as our train was late. We would definitely love to stay again during our next visit.
Great central location to Shanklin old village , literally a five min walk to the Chines, pubs and restaurants.
The property was immaculate, room one was large with plenty of space for belongings and a great shower.
Super buffet style breakfasts, something slightly different each day made a change from fried breakfasts every morning.
Tea, coffee, biscuits water replenished every day.
Friendly relaxed hosts that just let you get on with things.
Peaceful, self contained accommodation with private garden decking area. Very comfortable with everything you need. Beautiful decor. Excellent shower. Helpful owner, though we never met but was always available by text if needed. Free parking in residential road. Easy walking access to the sea and shanklin seafront (10 minutes). Great location to drive to other parts of island, especially Ventnor and West Wight.
From the moment we arrived Richard and his family were very welcoming. Excellent location, less than 5 mins walk down to Shanklin seafront. Apparently was clean and very welcoming. Comfy sofa too :-) Everything you need for a short break including some nice little touches. The only disappointment was that we didn't get to use the brand new weber bbq on the patio! Thanks for having us
First class hotel. In a stunning location Haven Hall is a class destination with good facilities. Only breakfast ( very good) available at time of booking but plenty of restaurants in the area. Couldn’t fault the hotel at all.. David is a very attentive owner and great with suggestions for places to see on the island. If you are looking for class on the IoW then this is the place.
Without exception, all staff members were cheery and helpful. By the end of or four nights, we felt like family. As well as the included breakfast, hot coffee, tea, biscuits and fruit were layed out 24hrs per day for residents to partake. Location was right in the old town part of Shanklin.. Ideal for a beach stroll, The Shanklin Chine and a multitude of restaurants.
The hotel is close to the beach and in walking distance of the railway station and Shanklin old village.the swimming pool was a lovely way to start the day. 8t is unattended so we could just pop down anytime within opening hours. Staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was a good but with a fairly typical selection of options.
Lovely hotel very friendly & staff very attentive. Nothing is too much trouble. The evening meal I had in the bar was delicious and in the morning an excellent full English breakfast. Definitely recommend and return soon.
I would recommend 11 out of 10 🙂🙂
Lovely old large stone house in Shanklin Old Village. Nice traditional reception rooms with lounge and restaurant areas. An honesty bar that we enjoyed quietly at the end of the evening. Room was v clean and good size. Staff were very friendly and welcoming
Lovely location, walking distance to Shanklin centre. 10 minutes walk from Shanklin Chine and old village. Watching bunnies on the lawn was a favourite with children. Very well appointed kitchen, best I've stayed in. Very spacious lounge and dining room.
Great location for Shanklin Old Village and the beach. Friendly staff, comfortable room and lovely breakfast. A good touch with lots of Isle of Wight books to look at during your stay.
The hotel was in an ideal location for the local buses, and was only a 10 minute walk to Shanklin old village. The gardens were beautiful and had excellent seating in the gardens.
The location of the hotel is great, close to the sea front and local shops.
