The people. Roy came out of his store and greeted us and then walked us to two great places to eat. At the Caslte Hotel we were treated like royality. It was before supper time so they made fixed up our table and served us in style. The food and service was wonderful. David was our taxi driver for all our stay and was also a wonderful guide to the area.

Stranraer is a ferry port with good bus links to Dumfries.
Stranraer is a ferry port with good bus links to Dumfries. The tow, itself had a "sedate ' feel to it. Traffic was slow and polite. Lots of fish and chips shops. The central castle / tower house is the only place of interest and museum. Famous centre for curling with rink open in winter months.

Absolutely highly recommend this beautiful stylish hotel, very clean, great food with a warm welcome
Excellent location on the sea front and lots of parking spaces. Beautiful reception area and staff were very welcoming and helpful. Room was very spacious with a small table and two chairs, large comfy bed and good facilities. Evening meal was lovely, very tasty and well presented with good choices; as was breakfast the next morning, absolutely perfect. The dining room is beautiful and set out nicely. The bars were both superb to have a drink and relax. Absolutely highly recommend this charming hotel, simply one of the best we have stayed in! We will definitely return!

Stranraer is wet and windy and very rundown.
Stranraer is wet and windy and very rundown. There is not a restaurant open past 9 o’clock. Very few takeaways and a Tesco’s and a Morrisons. There is nothing to do past 1730. Once the shops are closed our hotel we arrived at 2045 And the restaurant had already closed, there was no room service we had to go out in the pouring rain and wind to get a takeaway as they would not allow takeaway delivered to the hotel or to be eaten in hotel bar area which only one was open. We had to eat it in a room and it was cold by the time you got back so complete waste of money. This hotel is rundown and has been the same for the last 20 years. Last time we visited it. Stranraer was bustling, then as the port was in town. But no, there is only cairn Ryan you can leave from and it is 6 miles out of the village. All it’s good for is getting the ferry to Belfast.

Firstly, ships no longer berth in Stranraer as your photo depicts.Nothing wrong with Stranraer or the people who are very friendly, but industry and employment is desperately needed together with an improvement of the road network, in particular the 100 mile long A75. All thanks to the Scottish government who are spending the money on the capital City.
Breakfast was well prepared, tasty & great value.
Room & en-suite had everything we required & accommodations was well organised.
Hosts - Colin & Norma were friendly, informative but also discreet in their manner.
It was a pleasure to spend the one night there on our way to a wedding near Dublin.
It was an ideal location under 10 minutes away from ferry port.
Would highly recommend to anyone coming to the area & would stay again if going back to Ireland.
Found at a great price!
Looks bigger in person than shown in the pictures.
Lovely remote location and is still roughly a 10 minute drive away from the harbour/beach, shops, and civilisation.
It was a cosy ground floor cottage with everything you needed.
Everything was very clean and smelled fresh.
Friendly owners, there if you need them.
Beautiful view of the nearby horses out of the kitchen window.
I would definitely stay again
Perfect location for us as we were arriving in Scotland from the Belfast to Cairnryan ferry. We were greeted by the hostess at the door when we arrived, which was lovely. Parking was available on the street just outside the hotel, which was convenient. We ate at the Blue Peter hotel just up the hill. Great food but very quiet. Breakfast at the Corsewell arms was great, including haggis!
Brilliant location if you have a car. Stranraer is a couple of miles away for food shopping, and south is some fabulous little towns like Portpatrick. The scenery was amazing, and the cottage is very near the Southern Uplands Way walking route.
It was in easy reach of Cairnryan ferry port whilst on the way to Mull. The staff throughout were very approachable and welcoming. Both Dinner and Breakfast had plenty of choice and were a good quality and portion size.
Beautiful place with stunning views and scenery. Perfect for a quiet getaway with great walks and plenty of lovely places to visit nearby. My wife and I and our dog thoroughly enjoyed our time away here.
Great location for the ferry, excellent breakfast, host Jacqui was very friendly and accommodating. Room and dining room very clean and all covid protocols adhered to.
Hope to visit again in near future.
Wilma was really welcoming and helped with parking right by the door. My room was at the back of the building, quiet and private. The hotel location was easy to find and close to main routes for ferry.
Quick check in and room had windows open for fresh air. Dinner was served quickly and staff were excellent. Breakfast was good and I would definitely recommend North West Castle Hotel
This is a very friendly hotel with excellent rooms and facilities. Great choice for breakfast and good value for money. Our room had a view over the sea. would definitely stay again.
Very cozy hotel. You could tell a lot of love and care went into the smallest detail.
The breakfast was hot and very good. Late check-in was very easy. No noise. 🥰🌻
