Fish and chips on the front were superb, and there are lots of nice cafes. The pier is invigorating with fantastic views, the steam train station within a short walk, and a lovely long promenade to walk. There are a good number of welcoming pubs, and a variety of restaurants including pizza, mediteranean cuisine, indian takeaway, burgers, and wonderful bakeries offering Dorset apple cake, pasties and pastries.
Lots of interesting shops with Jurassic keepsakes, RNLI gifts, and antiques. There are supermarkets, a chemist, and cashpoints. Once down in the town and at the seafront, it is pretty flat, so easy to get a round, but the hills can make it a difficult climb back after a day on the beach!

Great traditional sea side town full of everything a family would need for a good holiday.
So many kinds of take away food, restaurants and chippies. Brilliant choice of shops for all tastes.
Steam train trips. Boat trips and crabbing in the small harbour.
Very long sandy beech and beautiful walks to be had along the bay and cliffs.
Bird watchers will enjoy the bird colonies along the cliffs.

Out of season Swanage is still charming.
Out of season Swanage is still charming. Small enough to walk round, but large enough to have a variety of shops and eateries. The Salt Pig was good for eating in. You can walk the coast path amongst other walks.

we only had two full days in Swanage in the middle of November, so our experience was not typical, We did look to drive into the town and park on the road by the side of the seafront, however the parking charge of £4.30 for the first hour put us off, who wants to benefit from 3 hours at £7.00 in November. As we didn't use the town car parks we cannot comment on the charges in them.
My husband has bad knees so we didn't park and walk around the town but there did seem to be some interesting little, individual shops as we drove through, We found Corfe Castle a delight to visit, especially the NT tea shop! We hope to go back.

I've stayed in Swanage several times and this reflects my like of Swanage and the surrounding area.
The Town / beach / numerous eating options / the compact layout of the Town makes it easy to navigate. Also great walks in and around Swanage for short strolls or longer treks.
Can't say I would have anywhere that I would avoid on subsequent visits.
We had a fab week staying at Arbour House B&B. Fraser and Sarah are great hosts and made us feel very welcome.
The room was very clean, comfortable and spacious and the breakfast was very tasty with a great selection to choose from.
The B&B is in a great position within a few minutes walk of the beautiful sandy Swanage beach.
We will definitely be back soon.
Thank you Fraser and Sarah x
Beautiful, spacious and modern apartment, but still with lots of character. Wonderfully decorated in a fantastic location literally just across the road from the beach and the pier. Super comfy beds, really, quiet and peaceful too. Liz the owner is a wonderful person, very kind, helpful, thoughtful and accommodating. We were super impressed! We would definitely book and stay again!
Loved staying at the limes with my family. Beautiful hotel in an amazing location close to the beach, restaurants and shops. Comfortable room that accommodated myself, my husband and our three children. Sarah was so welcoming and made our stay very enjoyable. The breakfast room is beautiful and having breakfast made for us each morning was such a treat! Would definitely stay again.
Super lovely accommodation. The family room had everything we needed as a family of four with two young children. The room had books and DVDs to keep them busy whilst it rained outside.
Fridge and dining table in the room too, which helped make life easier.
Plenty of space in a lovely sea side decor room.
Short walk to the beach and town.
Would definitely stay again!
Excellent location to beach and swanage town centre...also a massive bonus is the bus stop is right outside The Casleton which is open top and takes you to all the best places . The Castleton is an excellent Bed and breakfast..the rooms are great the decor is spot on but Kate and her staff are amazing ..The best Breakfast around Thankyou
The apartment was very spacious and the cleanliness was very thorough and the whole interior smelt divine. Good sized rooms and felt very homely. Very good insulation and only a short stroll into the town and the beach. Modern interior with great use of the space in relation to the kitchen and mezzanine lounge.
The flat was spotless, good location and lovely for the owners to leave tea/coffee/milk/bics to get you started and a bottle of wine. So considerate of them to supply condiments and cooking oil etc. so you didn't have to take everything with you.
Excellent location so adjacent to all Swanage's attractions.
The place is well equipped, clean and located near to the center. Hannah always makes sure that everything’s okay. We visited Swanage for my husband’s birthday and Hannah did a thoughtful touch for us which was really sweet. I would definitely recommend this place to our friends who want to visit Swanage.
The apartment is centrally located in the heart of Swanage, ideal base for exploring Dorset's Jurassic coast. The apartment is spacious and one of six in the block. It has a well equipped kitchen and spacious rooms. The apartment is well presented with modern fixtures and fittings.
The breakfast was excellent. The room was delightful, cooler rather than warmer, which is our preference. The bed was on the soft side. The location was excellent for our weekend at the inaugural Coastal Barbarians Offshore Regatta in Swanage Bay.
great location in central Swanage - easy walk to town and beach, with plenty of pubs, cafes and restaurants. garden was a real oasis. the house is really fascinating, the beds really comfortable and the bathrooms lovely. plenty of space overall.
A lovely view, friendly staff and the downstairs of the hotel is a lovely place to sit and look out to sea. The steps down to the beach is nice, we enjoyed a walk to swanage town centre by walking along the beach path. Breakfast was nice.
Exceptional service and very polite and helpful staff. The evening meal is excellentl, beautifully presented and tasty. The waiting staff were brilliant. The hotel is in a wonderful position with easy access to the beach.
Location was key. Parking across the street. Beach down the road. Short walk to the centre of town.
Communications from owners with check-in and check-out was excellent.
Good value for money!
Very well located, nearby SPAR and could get to Swanage beachfront in less than 10min. The place was comfortable, kitchen was in good working order, and the beds were super comfy!
Position and proximity to the beach.
The views from the restaurant were lovely and lounge facilities very pleasing.
Very enjoyable breakfast with a very good choice of menu.
This hotel is nicely located to restaurants, shopping and the beach. Room was adequate for two people, bathroom was clean. Staff friendly but not in your face.
