Marguerite's B&B, hotel in Castlehaven

Marguerite's B&B is located in landscaped gardens, 2 minutes’ drive from Skibbereen and just off the main Baltimore road on the Wild Atlantic Way route.

Marguerite is everything an old school lovely Irish hostess is but at the same time has adapted to modern times seamlessly. Her house and manicured gardens were a peaceful respite for me in Skibereen. My room faced the lush back garden which was very pleasant and calming. Her breakfast was to die for and there were so many extra choices including: fresh fruit, yogurts, cereals, granola, a traditional Irish breakfast made to order, fresh coffee and a selection of teas and fresh juices. She was extremely welcoming, pleasant and kind. I enjoyed our conversations immensely! There was also a very comfortable and homey sitting room to enjoy at your leisure and when I arrived she offered me a cup of coffee which was accompanied by her home baked delicious fruitcake. It really does not get better than this folks.

A haven in the true sense, an escape from the mundanity and repetition of daily life. The town is a wonderful example of well preserved Georgian architecture. Standing on the Main Street at 7.30pm on a Saturday evening in almost total silence might be disconcerting for some; no banging music pumping from pubs. No drunk and disorderly. Bliss.

    Wonderful old estate.

Wonderful old estate. Vintage, nostalgic, like stepping into bygone days. Non touristy! Our room was lovely with a view of the bay. Clean quiet. Very quiet village, 1 pub for dinner, 1 pub just for drinks . No fast food. Fantastic. traditional Irish breakfast delicious. Wish we had a few days more to just unwind and walk some of the paths. We loved it and hope to go back.

The town is very gorgeous and quaint. You could spend a few days lazing around here especially in summer or just swing through as we did. We also drove to Pilgrims about 30 mins away for a beautiful dinner.

The Castle at CastleTownshend was our favorite place to state our entire 16-day tour of Ireland. The cost is reasonable considering the quality of the accommodations and the hearty breakfast that is served. There is also a Cafe with the Castle that serves delicious lunch options. Nearby Mary Ann's Bar & Restaurant had delicious dinner options for a great value and the upstairs dining area had a great view of the bay.
