Upon walking in the place had an "Olde Worlde" feel which I tend to like - lots of pics on the wall from the hotel in days gone by, and generally an air of 70's charm. However, as we walked to our room there were child's drawings blu-tacked to the wall, and there was a child kicking a football in the hallway. It became clear that we were staying in a direct-provision center. The trip went downhill from there.

Booked in early and room was ready. Ample car parking at rear. Staff were at reception every time we passed and were very pleasant.

Beautiful grounds, beautifully restored castle and the food is excellent. Every single member of staff was really on the ball, friendly and helpful, a real credit to the management it's rare to see such a well run operation.
