We had a wonderful night in Portnoo. Mary and Michael were incredibly welcoming to their home, and are both very warm, lovely people. They greeted us with tea and biscuits on arrival which was lovely after a long cycle. The house has stunning views of the sea and the room was very comfortable. Mary gave us our first full Irish breakfast in the morning!
Portnoo itself is a great place, with a lovely pub, cafe and beach.
We really enjoyed our stay and would love to return!

Nice large room and shower room. Very clean. Great view from the breakfast room. The breakfast was perfect for me; fresh fruit & natural yogurt, selection of cereals, soda bread, big selection of quality jams, peanut butter etc. Plus scrambled eggs on toast and good quality teas. Taxi back from town was E8 (paid E10). Quiet roads for walking and cycling. Very helpful owners.

Amazing location, we walked to the dolmen in the morning. The hosts showed us to our rooms and as we were the only ones we had a lot of privacy on the whole top floor.

The house is conveniently located close to the village, but very quiet. It was warm on arrival, and the kids loved having a few channels to play with on the TV!
The beds were comfortable and had lovely duvets and blankets.
We'll be back again for sure!
Portnoo is a great place to visit, it has a brilliant beach...
Portnoo is a great place to visit, it has a brilliant beach with low tide around 11.30 am allowing you to walk accross the beach to a small island which you can explore. Although as the tide starts to come in around 14.00 pm you need to find your way back to the mainland quite sharpish. The surrounding mountains coupled with the harbour and the large beach enables this area to be termed very scenic.
Portnoo is just a 15min drive one way to Ardara and and the other direction 15min to Glenties, both are small towns with lots to offer.

The whole area is outstanding! Scenery is fabulous! You can walk on the beach to the island when the tide is out! Portnoo golf club is excellent for meals as well as golf!! Plenty of walks etc! The Pub in the area had great Irish music & really friendly too.
