We loved our room looking out over the rushing river. Very peaceful at night with a very comfy bed and pillows. Lighting in the room was great. So many hotels — even the expensive ones— are so poorly lit you cannot see in the bathroom mirrors or the sleeping area. The breakfast offered good options and the front desk was extremely kind to offer us a brown bag breakfast the morning we had to leave super early before the restaurant opened. Great restaurant just across the street called Krisp.
It’s a perfect base for exploring the golden circle and the south coast. There is only 7 km to Hveragerdi and Selfoss, cities with a wide range of shops and restaurants.

The hot tubs were a great experience at the end of a long drive across the Icelandic south coast. There was a slight smell of sulphur to the tap water, so keep that in mind if you are sensitive to such things. A great place to stay during the off-season; a complimentary room upgrade was a very welcoming touch.

All. Rooms were basic but comfortable. Location in the middle of nowhere, but 15 min driving from Selfoss. Amazing breakfast. Common areas ( lobby and hot pot at sunset time was fantastic). I would go back again for sure!

We didn't actually get chance to see much of Selfoss itself as we were using the apartment as a Base for other excursions, great for south coast & golden circle as long as you're comfortable driving a hire car.
We are looking forward to visiting again in the future & seeing even more!

The Town has grown since I visited 7 years ago.
The Town has grown since I visited 7 years ago. The town pool is a great spot to go and relax. There is a fabulous food court across the street from the Hotel Selfoss -- great spot for drinks and dinner. You can still get a good hot dog in the parking lot of the Hotel Selfoss. The town is well located to visit waterfalls, geysers, and thermal pools. I would return.

A friendly town - we stayed in the camper site which was great and then a return visit to stay in a hotel and we ate in the food hall which was nice with options and variety. We also did the Skyr tour in the basement of the food hall. I would add that a wider and more of the “taste” section would be nice.
It’s a central spot to come back to or travel from and back if that suits your travel plans.

Selfoss has a sweet, mostly walkable, growing center that includes an easy, level river-walk. We found enough variety in the food hall to keep us well-fed and happy with the choices over several days. (It was recommended to us by a rental car agent at KEF. She was rightly enthusiastic about the tacos - and just about everything was solid!) Selfoss is also a great location near the Southern Coast for easy, varied day-trips - everything from amazing waterfalls to black-sand beaches, from otherworldly volcanic deposits to hot-springs, craters, and more. With Selfoss as our lodging spot, we could have happily explored for several more days.

Nice quiet town with more than just the waterfall.
Nice quiet town with more than just the waterfall. Plenty of places to eat and shop. Þingvellir national park is nearby with great views, hiking and (of course) several waterfalls. The fall colors were out during our visit the last week of September and only last a few days.
I really enjoyed my stay. It's a group of 4 apartments located in a quiet residential part of Selfoss but still close to restaurants, grocery stores, and the main road. The room was very beautiful and the bathroom had heated floors. Blackout curtains were good as well. Check in and out were very easy, I just left the key in the door. Perfect location if you are exploring the SW and the Golden Circle. Geysir, Gullfoss, Skogafoss, and Seljalandsfoss are all more or less an hour's drive away.
Small restaurant attached.
Cleaning when required and not every day.
Nice seating areas in communal spaces, with book on the table.
Bins in the communal areas.
Proper kettle for those warm drinks.
The entry system is different, as main door and room door are number coded. I found this great as no worries about losing keys.
There is plenty of parking on the main street and around the back.It is within easy reach of everything you need, shopping and food.
We liked the hotel a lot. The room was small but cosy, and the shared bathroom was clean. We liked the hot pools. The hosts are very friendly and offer a superb breakfast (not included, but the room's price without breakfast is cheaper than in other places, so it is worth it). The location is close to Selfoss, which is a great base to visit the Golden Circle. We recommend it and would definitely rebook.
This is a cozy charming hotel in what seems like a middle of nowhere. It's a type of a wooden chalet and was warm and nice inside on the contrast with cold and drenching rain outside at the time of the visit.
Big bonus was the restaurant inside the hotel which was already mentioned by many here - it was a buffet and had delicious home made food I guess icelandic style (you had pay extra).
This hotel is family run with so much care, the facilities are perfect, the room was lovely and the food delicious. The hot spa pools are sensational, really made it a stay to remember. The set menu dinner was absolutely delicious and made from local produce. The hotel owners pay so much attention detail with sustainability high on their list of importances. I highly recommend.
The place is perfect if you want to stay in Selfoss. Walking distance to everything! So many restaurants and shops. Gunnar was so easy to work with and flexible with our check-in and check out times. There was coffee, pods, and tea to get us started in the kitchen. And all of the toiletries that we would need.
I will definitely return here again .
We enjoyed our stay in Selfoss at the Bella Apartments. The location is convenient for short walk into the main area where there are restaurants - the newly opened market place was a great stop for dinner because it was open late and there were multiple options for types of food. The rooms were clean and comfortable.
Clean; a lot of extras like ice cube trays, scissors, etc.; hot tub; beautiful & convenient location; modern; big area to hang out together and space to have alone time too. After being in a car together for a week, it was great to play games together and then each retreat to our own rooms.
In a good location for the Golden Circle & some beautiful waterfalls. Good restaurants in nearby Selfoss. Clean & comfortable rooms & beds with good shower. Clean towels provided every day. Hot tub & sauna. Friendly & helpful owners.
Everything was perfect! We were moved to other hotel (Selfoss Hotel), as gesthus was on maintenance but the team make all the effort to turn the experience enjoyable. The room was clean, bed very confortable and nice breakfest!
Spacious, clean, homey. (Clearly someone's home at one point.) Central location in Selfoss meant we could walk to many restaurants and shopping (e.g. Kronan) A great base for exploring Golden Circle destinations.
The location is close to the "main part" of Selfoss so it's easy to get around. The owners are nice & accommodating. The space was clean and as advertised (we were in the studio flat).
Great location for our first night in Iceland. Rooms were very clean and spacious. Excellent buffet breakfast with many choices. Stayed here for two nights.
