It was good contemporary design while being respectful of traditional architecture. The position was fabulous, and the room all that I needed. Beautiful public bath house on the top floor.

Beppu has a great vibe, especially the area around Beppu Station and the area near the "hells". The sight of water vapour rising between all the buildings is truly something. But aside from the hells and the hot springs there is not that much more to do in the city itself. So 2-3 days should definetely be enough for people who have a limited amount of time in Japan. The city of Yufu one hour busride from Beppu and certainly worth a visit. There are a couple of other great places in Oita Prefecture worth visiting but those are a little bit hard to access without a car.

Beppu is one of the best cities I visited, it is a city is in the middle of sea and mountain. There is a lot of Onsen where you can be easy to find around the city, Beppu is called " City of Onsen".
You can relax and release any daily tired at the onsen bath (especially if you bath onsen pool outside)
Furthermore, you can go to viewpoint to see the Beppu city and mountain view.
It is a good memory to visit there.

The seven hells of Beppu (Jigoku) are really great to fill a day. You can have a nice walk along the shoreline and the mall near the bay offers a great shopping opportunity. There are a few good restaurants that you can enjoy. The neighborhood around the Jigoku is quite nice, the rest of Beppu not so much. Two or three days are enough for this town.

We didn't have enough time to see other onsen areas.
We didn't have enough time to see other onsen areas. We did not rent a car so we traveled by bus. We did not get to see the onsen areas as I did want to try some of the other ryokan onsens. The only problem I had was with the stools that you sit on to swcrub yourself.

I really enjoyed the hot springs!
I really enjoyed the hot springs! I went to Hyotan Onsen and did the hot springs and sand bath. the sand bath was a little underwhelming but the hot springs was perfect! there was also a waterfall bath which was a nice experience. the sand bath was a "do it yourself" situation where you dig a hole and cover yourself. it was nice; i recall i fell asleep. It was a little underwhelming; i would do just the hot springs again though! Also, the sand bath area was kind of small and co-ed, 7-8 rows and probably fit 4 people per row. Other than that, Hyotan had a dining restaurant and tried the cold ramen; refreshing after a nice hot dip! Getting around Beppu was easy for me. i was mostly around just the hot spring area and the area of the 7 devil hot springs (which i ran out of time and did not get to do all but was happy i got to do at least 5). the area was also kind of hilly... so one may be walking uphill a bit but no big deal, not a steep incline. Overall, Beppu was a great experience and I would come back for the hot springs as it's what the town is known for!
A nice hotel just 10 minutes from the Beppu Train Station. (Exitcon the east side (higasi) and follow the main road straight ahead to the "T" intersection. Turn left and the red brick hotel is on the right). The hotel is relatively modern and very clean. Our room was reasonably sized. The onsen is split between men and women, with a warmer tub inside and hotter outside. The Japanese breakfast buffet had many, good selections. There is a shopping area close by with many restaurant options.
This was a different experience from our usual hotel stay but one that we greatly enjoyed. Our hosts treated us with green tea. We don’t speak any Japanese and our hosts little English but we got by with hand gestures and nods. The house is over 100 years old and a bit drafty for a cold day in Beppu but a room heater kept us comfortable. An onsen was located right across from the house entrance with men and women separate entry doors. Put 100 yen in the metal box to enter.
Breakfast comes with two choices, either the international buffet or the Japanese traditional set.
Note that the Japanese traditional set only consist of sashimi and cold cuts hence may not be suitable for all.
The international buffet is very nice though.
They also have public onsen which is kind of "dated" but serves its purpose well.
Carpark is free, just need to exchange your car park ticket for a complimentary pass at the hotel reception.
quite amazed! staff is ready to greet with arrival guest list outside hotel.
shoes off while in hotel which makes hotel very clean and comforting.
amazing seaview and onsen. ladies onsen dressing room comes with Sekkisei amenities
u cannot miss the sunrise view - totally speechless
breakfast is mainly Japanese style with some Western choices. u can make your own Salmon roe rice! (i made two for myself, omg i want one now)
The hotel is not far from Beppu station. it is near the sea. We can see the sea from our room. I love japanese style room and the futons. The reception staff can speak English well. The staff came to turn down our futons around 6 pm. The onsen is really great. the breakfast is superb. The staff allowed us to leave the luggages before check-in and after check-out so that we could go to Yufuin and Jigoku tour.
Lovely property only a minute's walk away from Beppu train station. Run by a friendly Japanese lady who seems to have been running it for several decades. Just as cosy as it looks in the pictures with the reception room full of old knick knacks. There's also a large and incredibly relaxing onsen bath available for all residents to use which I'd highly recommend. Definitely stay here if you come to Beppu!
At walkable distance to the train station, close to Beppu tower. The staff was really friendly and explained everything in English. A large kitchen area and common room. The Japanese style room was spacious and the tatami mats seemed to be really new. A large fridge and hot water kettle in the room. Shower and toilet (with toilet brush, which is rather rare in Japanese hotels) were in separated rooms.
Hotel Seawave is one of the last authentic “Beppu Onsen ♨️” hotels in Beppu. Nothing about this hotel is fake. The rooms are lived in and comfortable. The Onsen is authentic 1980s style with soothing water and a unique “old school” atmosphere. The breakfast 🍳 is outstanding and the checkout time of 11am allows you to bathe, eat, pack and relax slowly and stress free. Awesome 👏🏻 hotel.
Conveniently located just a couple of minutes away from the train station and bus stop, with plenty of restaurants and onsen at walking distance. Other areas, such as the jigoku (hells), easily reachable by bus from the station. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a set menu but was good. Room was ok and the hotel has a laundry room (washing-drying machines).
The room is spacious and relatively quiet. The private onsen here is definitely value-for-money. There are two private onsens - one within the building and the other located on the opposite side of the hotel. It is my first time staying in Ryokan and slept on traditional Japanese-style tatami mat and yes, it did exceed my expectation!
It is a modernize ryokan with Japanese tradition. It is located within a residential area which is very quiet and not busy at all. The hotel is very clean and staffs here are super friendly with great service. We have an oversize private onsen in our room which is the one big thing that we enjoy our stay here.
Tasteful and Beautiful room with a excellent view. The beds and pillows were comfortable and we slept extremely well throughout the 5 nights stay. The onsen in the room was really good and the granite tub can easily fit 2 adults. Service is also excellent as typical in most Japanese hotels of this quality.
This is in a great location, right in the Beppu hell's area with one next door. The room was a great size and really comfy. A nice selection of onsens and a good breakfast spread. I had a really great stay here. At the time the price was fantastic for room size and quality of the hotel.
Cheap apartment right in the centre of Beppu close to most of the onsen and the shopping and of course the "vice" streets. Walking to a lot of the onsen here takes a few minutes. Full kitchen and Laundry are within the apartment,
The hotel is just a walking distance from Beppu train station. It comes with an onsen and rooftop pool which are awesome. The room is modern, good setting, and with excellent view of Beppu city.
Great host who showed us beautiful spots of beppu and humored our bad japanese ability. Very friendly and kind!
The location is in the heart of Kannan Onsen and we slept very good.
Traditional Japanese hotel with outdoor onsen and set Japanese dinner and breakfast. You don’t need to think about what to eat. Staff at dinner restaurant speaks fluent English.
Hotel was handy to shops and restaurants. The onsen was lovely, especially the outdoor view over the bay. The rooms were very large but the bathroom tiny by comparison.
