The hotel was located right across from a supermarket which made it easy to get food and amenities. Parking was also easy to navigate - we drove a rental car so not having to pay for parking was a huge plus for us. It's also located near bus stops and trams stops.
We got a wonderful view overlooking Sakurajima from our room, and it was spacious enough for our group of 4.

We liked the nearby shops, the closeness to ferry and trainstation with Shinkansen accessibility. We found a lot of different style restaurants nearby.
In our experience was 1 Queen-bed too small for 2 european people.
The free space allowed us to only open 1 suitcase at a time.

Fascinating, lively city, interesting surroundings, very approachable people. Good food, too. Public transport is well-organised and affordable, and easy to navigate. Sakurajima's brooding, smoke-spewing presence provides the city with a unique atmosphere. I recommend the Kagoshima Brands store for souvenirs and omiyage (9-1 Meizanchō, Kagoshima). And don't miss Sengenan on any account!

Kagoshima is a city with a large volcano in its back yard.
Kagoshima is a city with a large volcano in its back yard. It make for a different kind of vibe. It is also a port city with many ferries, mostly going south to the little island atchepelago that ends in Okinawa. Warmer weather than most of Japan but still pretty chill in January. Nice people, I found them friendly. I like the place.

The rural areas of southern Kagoshima are very different from the rest of Japan, with not so huge mountains and very spacious land. It gives a very nice and different vibe seeing all those flat farmlands spread along the see, with a backdrop of volcanoes and hot springs. There are also some good hiking spots. Especially, Yakushima is a paradise for hikers with its deep, pristine and quite untouched forests and streams.
Absolutely loved the place! It’s a hotel, but has a ryokan influence. The Japanese room was great, with enough room to move around and everything you need - water, tea, yukata, fridge etc
The onsen and traditional breakfast were great, too.
The location is perfect to visit many places of interest and the City View bus stop is just a couple of min walk from it.
My favourite thing was staff: they are all professional, friendly, welcoming, super kind and helpful. If I come back I will definitely stay here again, no doubt!
The staff were very helpful and friendly. It was convenient that a buffet dinner option was available for a fee within the hotel. The hotel restaurant also sold lovely cakes. The souvenir shop within the hotel sells some cute souvenirs. The 13th floor onsen and 12th floor lounge, both with a view of Sakurajima, were superb. It was very convenient to have the free hotel shuttle bus to Kagoshima-Chuo JR station. The hotel room's ambience music was very soothing.
The location was amazing as it was a short walk from Kagoshima Station. The walk to the stay is completely covered as well through covered mall. The surrounding area has a large selection of restaraunts while still being quiet enough for a peaceful stay.
For foreigners, if you've ever wanted to try living in a Japanese Apartment, this is a great way to add some variety into your accommodation line up during your stay in Japan.
The breakfast was excellent with a huge selection of dishes to choose from and since the dining room accommodated many people there was no waiting for a place to sit. We loved everything about this hotel. The unobstructed view of Sakurajima volcano from our 14th floor room window was awesome and the picture I took looks spectacular. We will without hesitation stay at this hotel when we visit Kagoshima again in the future.
Location the best. Very close to the train station and shopping. Typical size rooms for Japan. Located in the hub of activities. Being centrally located, used taxi rather than using train or bus to visit various sites. Breakfast good choices between western and Japanese food. Having breakfast in the hotel much easier than venturing out. Staff extremely helpful and courteous.
(Edited as I accidentally wrote about the wrong hotel!)
Hotel is very chic and modern, in a really handy shopping area around 1.5km from the central Kagoshima JR station. Tram stop and airport bus stop are 2min walk.
Room is comfortable, with modern shower (no bath). Nice quality toiletries supplied.
The massage chair was a nice extra!
The hotel is such a great location when taking the airport shuttle or shinkansen. Great looking rooms, comfortable beds, amazing shower. Like, seriously, the shower was so nice and the bathroom was spacious. Also, drip coffee was supplied which as a great bonus. I was a bit bummed we only stayed one night; I'd love to go back!
The hotel has very big rooms with all needed amenities you will need (bathroom and toilet are separated). The location is great, just a short walk from Kagoshima-chuo station and the arcades in the city center. I had a very good stay here and would stay in the FAV hotel again when coming back to Kagoshima.
The location is very good, really close to Kagoshima chuo station. The bed was comfortable, with an outlet to charge my phone and a curtain for privacy. The people are friendly and accommodating. I could leave my luggage there after the check-out to enjoy the city a bit more.
The hotel was in a great location, close to many different types of restaurants, the Kagoshima cho, railway station, buses, taxis, and trams, and a 10 minute drive to the Kagoshima ferry terminal, the restaurant staff were very helpful as with the reception staff,
Unfortunately I could not make the booking but my friend did. This is his comment on his stay at Hotel Lexton.
Beat all expectations, comfortable bed, great facilities, great staff and located in the centre of Kagoshima.
My friend was very happy with his stay!!
The view of Sakurajima from our room! The staff were very friendly and helpful. The late check at 12:00 PM was appreciated. The area was very nice and the free shuttle to and from Kagoshimachuo station was a good touch as well.
Nice hotel just minutes away from the main Kagoshima street and near the port. The hotel is clean with friendly staff. The room we stayed was fine and we got same room first night and upon return from Yakushima.
Quiet, budget stay in Kagoshima. Located well in the city (close to a tram stop, airport limousine bus nearby, easy access to Sakurajima), Bed was comfortable and sheets were clean.
