Very spacious room that included a living area with a view overlooking water and mountains. We really enjoyed the great breakfast with friendly, homey dining area. The location is fantastic--only a 5 minute walk to the tour pickup spots and restaurants.

Tromsø is a delightful city in a breathtaking location.
Tromsø is a delightful city in a breathtaking location. We went in May and enjoyed midnight sun over snowy hills. Local people were lovely, very friendly, excellent English. Cards accepted everywhere, didn't use any cash all week. Plenty to see and do, mostly within walking distance but we got cheap 24 bus passes and explored in all directions too. Tromsø billet app useful for cheap tickets. Tourist info staff very helpful. We had a fantastic fjord cruise on the Brim Explorer - highly recommended. Food excellent too, local cafes for lunch, enjoyed a particularly good Indian meal at the Indie Restaurant.

Tromso was okay, only small, not a lot to do, plenty souvenir shops, was nice for 3 nights but wouldn't go for any longer. We went on a boat on the fjords which was 4 hours, would have been better if had only been 2 hours, it was just mountains and water we found it to be boring, and it wasn't cheap, would we recommend, No.

Tromsø is breathtaking and definitely worth visiting, regardless of if you're chasing the polar lights, or just want to explore the city and the area during the day. The city is in close touch with nature and offers variety of different activities. The only thing I wouldn't recommend is going there during the Easter holidays (as I did), since a lot of stores, museums, restaurants, etc. tend to be closed.

Tromso is nice town with plenty of places to eat and drink.
Tromso is nice town with plenty of places to eat and drink. The restaurants offer a mixture of cuisine including local delicacies. There are a reasonable amount of shops offering local goods. It is an easy walk across the bridge to visit the Cable Car, definitely worth a visit to enjoy spectacular views. We arranged for a Northern Lights Tour which was fantastic. A comfortable, luxury coach drove us an hour outside of Tromso to an area with no light pollution, we had perfect weather so did not have to move on as the Northern Lights offered us the most wonderful light show for a four hour period. We were supplied with Hot Chocolate & cookies which kept us warm. The driver would have driven to another location if the weather had not been clear but on this occasion it was not necessary.

Tromsø is an amazing city.
Tromsø is an amazing city. It’s not as small as one may think.. has the right amount of grocery stores, cafés, bars etc. Quite a good nightlife, lots of young students/ tourists around so you’re never alone during solo travel! Tourism and guided activities are exceptional, they provide all the equipment, meals (in some cases) and transportation. Overall you will never be bored in Tromsø, I reccomend everyone to visit even if you’re not a sporty person there’s an activity for every fitness level.

I had a day there at the start and end of my holiday. Packed in quite a bit of sightseeing. The Troll Museum is a must visit!
Delicious king crab platter at Dragoy.
Saw the Northern Lights from the top of the cable car.
We stayed at Top View for a week over New Year as a family of 4. On arrival the accommodation was easy to find and central to both the city centre, Arctic Cathedral and Cable Car. Top View was spotless, spacious, had good facilities and the views were so beautiful! We were able to see the Northern Lights from the living room and balcony and had a fantastic view of the Fireworks on New Years Eve! We would definitely book again if visiting Tromso and would highly recommend staying here to anyone visiting Tromso.
Great, convenient location. The city bus from the airport comes very nearby and you can walk anywhere in the town center. We even walked to the cruise terminal - a bit of a longer walk but perfectly doable.
Breakfast was very nice with lots of options (cereal, eggs, bread, cold cuts, yogurt, granola, fruit). The seating area at breakfast has a beautiful view through the very large front windows. The hotel was fairly busy during our stay because of the cruise ships but the staff seemed well prepared.
The location is absolutely fantastic- I saw the Northern lights on the first night in Norway from my window and outside. John and Martha were very friendly and helpful and I had arranged to use their shuttle service (extra add-on) to get picked up at Eidkjosen after taking the No 42 bus from Tromso city centre. It made the travel more affordable and they were very helpful and flexible as far as possible. Kitchen is great and there is a box in the fridge for food.
Our stay was perfect and wonderful. Perfect house to see the northern lights, quiet and with everything you need for a pleasant stay. The views are stunning. Kristin has been a great host, thoughtful and solving any questions for the best our stay. It has been a romantic experience, beautiful and I recommend 100%. You will love the environment, its tranquility and above all if you can see the aurora borealis over the house, as we saw it. Awesome ❤️🇧🇻
A really nice surprise is that coffee, hot chocolate and tea are 24h free for all guests and the kitchen can be used any time, which adds a welcome option for lunch and dinner since restaurants in Tromso can be quite expensive.
The Rooms are very cosy, the staff helpful and friendly and the common bathrooms were always clean during our whole stay. We also took the Northern Lights Tour offered by the hotel and can also really recommend it.
The hotel was very close to the port where we arrived on the Hurtigruten. They had a great tour desk where we booked tours including the Northern Lights which we got to see in all it's glory. You can also do dog sledding and reindeer sledding. They also have a great breakfast buffet. I enjoyed watching the snowflakes fly by the window whilst eating breakfast. Our room had a bath and shower which was a real comfort to help you relax.
The location is perfect. All of the tours (northern lights, dog sledding, reindeer, snow shoe hikes) pick you up somewhere around the radisson blu hotel and these apartments were just a 6 minute walk from there making it super convenient (especially for those 2am walks home after seeing the lights). The facilities were nice and it was great to have a washing machine and kitchen after a few weeks of travelling
Scandic Ishavshotel Tromso
This was a great starting point for our trip throughout Norway! The breakfast will not be beat! They had everything! And lots of it! Reception was welcoming and helpful with anything we needed.
Only slight negative was the rooms do not have temperature control and it got quite warm. We could open a window though, but that was very cold! (We visited in late June)
The location is excellent, right in the centre and only a one to two minute walk from the centre, the port and meeting points for trips. The breakfast was good. The hotel also offered free tea, coffee, juice and water throughout the day and at 7 pm they brought out a waffle machine! These were all very nice touches, especially as everything in Norway is so expensive.
Nice hostel, unfortunately you have to share only one toilet and the shower with others, but the place, the price and the rooms were very ok and warm.
I ve found good people and I picked them up in my car to see the northern lights together.
I ve found only good guys
Great place, perfect mix of hotel and hostel because of the shared kitchen. Very clean and comfortable. Just like the pictures. Close to the city center. Staff was always available to respond and really nice :). The owner is really friendly.
Great breakfast, fika, and dinner. Awesome location. I was given a harbor view room which was very charming (albeit small). I was very satisfied with this choice, especially w/ the included food bc that is so expensive in Norway.
Check in was efficient especially after 24hrs of travel. The hotel was beautifully designed and modern. Breakfast with the view was amazing. It’s also conveniently located next to the airport.
Location was great. Nice, clean, quiet and safe. It was everything I was looking for. The staff were kind and helpful. This hotel helped make my stay in tromso amazing
Very large semi split room (two queen beds) , delicious breakfast, excelent location and friendly staff. One of the best scandic hotels we have stayed at so far.
Had a great stay in this beautiful old Norwegian house!Host is super helpful and nice , great suggestions to see the northern lights and to nice places in town!
Good room overall, breakfast was among the best we had in Norway, hotel is located right on the waterfront. Restaurants and floating sauna are just steps away.
