The free breakfast was nice and the beds were comfy, the building has character and is spacious. The lady on reception was smiley and friendly.

Spa with the view. Comfortable bed. The room was fantastic. The fire place was awesome. A hidden paradise.

Kakapo Lodge is comfortable and practical with shared bathroom and kitchen spaces. The whole complex is clean, tidy, warm and equipped with all the necessary amenities one needs for a great stay. We particularly enjoyed the fire being lit in the common areas as we stayed whilst it was getting colder, and the curtains being closed early evening in all the common areas. The owner/staff we interacted with were always super friendly, available when needed and professional. I highly recommend Kakapo Lodge.

A charming Swiss chalet-like hostel full of character, warmth, and nice touches for guests. Tristan is a natural at hospitality, with an innate sense of guest need. Warm, cosy rooms, a log fire, comfy beds and armchairs, a well equipped kitchen, a place radiating backpacker hospitality at its best. Highly recommended. Will remember it well.
