Super lokalita, velmi prijemny a ochotny personal, kvalitni snidane.
Zilina is Slovakia's fifth city. To the standards of many it is rather small though. But the city centre is nice for a day. It is a bit dull though. Most bars and restaurants close at ten. The last one closes at 01h.

As with other medium sized slovakian towns (roughly 80.000 inhabitants) it is enough to spend a few hours walking the city centre to get the image of the town. Zilina features a big central square with roofed passages - a feature that is quite typical for Czech towns and is quite unique among Slovak towns. Also if you are a fan of functionalistic architecture, there is a good portion of it just beyond Aupark shopping mall (Bernolaka street) - it is called the Boulevard.
Other activities include:
- a hike to the watchtower - go to the other side of Vah river and follow the red touristic trail. it takes some 40 minutes to get there on the beaten track
- a visit to Budatin castle
- a visit and a walk to the water dam
Within 20 kms from the town, one can visit: Strecno castle ruin, Starhrad castle ruin, Lietavsky castle ruin, or walk in the surrounding hills.
Regarding eating, my favourite place in Zilina is Habibi Lebanese restaurant situated in Mirage shopping mall just a few metres away from the central square.

Zilina is a good town to pass through, not really to stay for a longer period. We stayed 2 nights because we were traveling by bike and the rain was to bad to head of the next day. A real stretch to fill our day. Plenty of more interesting cities to stay in Slowakia.

There’s nothing really to see in Žilina.
There’s nothing really to see in Žilina. It’s a safe city, with a good choice of restaurants and bars. The shopping centres are good as well. But, pretty much nothing for the tourist. I only came here to visit some Slovak friends!

I visited Zilina by car. I had no issues with parking. You can even park in the plaza garage for 3 hours for free! There are lots of interesting places there, and do not miss to visit the Italian restaurant Vulcano and the Lietava Castle (prepare for some hiking).
Check in was super fast. The hotel has great character and charm. Room was large and bed was comfortable. The buffet breakfast had great selection and was fresh and well maintained. The pool was the best, I don't like basement spas. this wellness area had an outdoor hot tub and modern clean light pool. The whole wellness area was a treat and unlike some other hotels it was included in the price of the room. I paid for a massage and even at the last minute they were able to schedule me.
A lot of interesting nostalgia inside the hotel taking you back to Czechoslovakia former times. The staff let you choose another room if you’re not happy with the one you booked. Hotel is just a few steps to the Aupark shopping centre, and transportation. Probably the cheapest hotel in Slovakia so it’s easy on finances, and they never seem to be short on rooms due to the sheer size of the hotel. I’ve stayed there a few times, it’s not luxury, but great on the wallet.
Staff in the hotel is excellent, especially on the reception desk...they called me to let me know about issue with my car they observed and they did excellent job to keep my unlocked car safe during my stay out of the city. I highly appreciate the approach they had and for me no doubt guys there are doing their best for keeping customer satisfaction on the highest possible level.
You will be offered a great hotel room with easy access to the city center. The room looked overall impressive with a subtle touch of history, that will briefly remind you of the old days. Breakfast with the whole service can make you a smile and a good feeling for the rest of your day.
I read the reviews and was willing to take the 23 EUR gamble and was pleasantly surprised by my stay. Everything worked seamlessly, the check-in, room, parking, and breakfast. Looks can be deceiving, Hotel Slovakia is a blast from the past but a well functioning hotel. :)
The hotel is really nice. The room was clean and pretty comfortable. Even though it was small, the space was organized pretty well. The breakfast was good enough with a good variety offered. There's also a restaurant with lunch/dinner options, the food there was great.
Everything as expected, however the heating was not working during night. Breakfast was very good and personnel extremely friendly. Even though the heating was not satisfying I consider it as bad moment since I stayed before in this hotel and I am satisfied overall.
Location close to a couple of restaurants and spa although we used our 1 night as a stop over from Zakopane to Bratislava. One can also visit Zilina which is 2p min by car. Parking in front of the apartment building is good as well. Apartment was clean.
The location of the Hotel is within a very short walk to the City Center and many other amenities. The restaurant and bar had great food that was not over priced. However, they allowed smoking in the restaurant which we were a little disappointed with.
Great location, central Zilina, reasonably easy to get to. Good breakfast, but don't leave it too late! Free parking. Lovely leisure pool, Finnish sauna and Hammam. Towels and robes provided, no extra cost.
The location directly across the road from the railway station is extremely helpful.
The check in was easy with a friendly member of staff.
The main square is around 10mins walk from the hotel.
Close to train station in Zilina, clean and fuss-free, apart from the usual
Slovakian form-filling-chore (who you are, where from, Passport Numbers etc).
