Artful Lodging & Retreats, hotel in Montpelier

Featuring mountain views from the backyard, Artful Lodging & Retreats is located in Montpelier, the nation's smallest capitol, just 1.5 km from downtown and the Vermont State House.

Breakfast not included But Beth, our host, left breakfast food at our door to our surprise. The very lovely two -bedroom apartment was large enough to easily accommodate up to six people. Cleanliness throughout was evident and the peony fragrance was just another welcoming touch. The kitchen was set up with a Keurig , beautiful china and flatware and more and more. Indeed home away from home. Your stay at Artful will be worth the cost AND Artful is extremely close to the state's capital with its magnificent gold-leaf dome. This is a fabulous rustic jewel. OH! before I forget the sunset on the property will astound you. Also John, brother to Beth, kept us guided and he didn't have to. Our stay at Artful was excellence personified. Plan that trip to Montpelier and stay at Artful Lodging and Retreats. IT WILL WOW YOU!.

Basic, somewhat Spartan accommodations in an older building.

Basic, somewhat Spartan accommodations in an older building.. Quiet, with few other guests. Cordial staff. Everything worked OK, but the stairs to my room were steep and narrow. Very nice front porch for sitting and conversation, on site parking, easy walk into center of Montpelier. Restaurant was closed during my visit.

We travel to Montpelier to visit family, mostly in the late summer. the green mountains and quaint New England vibe mixed with the local college scene is always pleasing to the eye and comforting to the soul. In the autumn you can see the leaves changing color as they grow up the mountain. Everyone is friendly and smiling in town.

We were in VT to visit the Barre quarry, VT Granite Museum, and to see Hope Cemetery. This made a beautiful place to stay and be close to those sites. If we had more time, we wold have visited historical places in and around Montpelier.

Montpelier has many interesting and quirky shops. My visit to the Vermont Historical Society Museum was very informative and enjoyable. It was also very hands on and kid-friendly. The Saturday Farmer's Market was excellent. The 4-H club brought two heifers - June and Fancy!

This was a beautiful location. Off the deck was a lovely garden and fields. We watched lots of birds; humming birds, goldfinch and cardinals being my favorite. The house was perfect and spotless clean with lots of nice amenities, the hosts were very friendly and helpful, the location was very convenient to Montpelier downtown and Barre. It was very peaceful and comfortable. We loved staying here. We will definitely stay here again!

The hotel does look great from the outside and is well located in the city. We managed to get free parking inside the hotel area and the wifi was strong. Our room was fine and a fair size with a big and comfy bed and had a big window which made it light and airy. The bathroom was also fine with a nice strong shower. The room was all very clean. We didn't expect breakfast, but a snack breakfast was provided.

Despite my dislikes, the inn was so charming and cute! The inn is located right in the center of Montpelier, easy to walk anywhere. The staff were super friendly, I loved the option to pick the scent of the artisan made hand soap for the room. We didnt eat at the restaurant this time, but. Despite neci being closed there are still plenty of great places to eat innthe center of town.

With so many hotels booked up throughout the state, Comfort Inn was one of the only options available. It was much more accommodating than I anticipated and the perks like nightly cookies/milk, free bottled water, and complimentary maple syrup bottles were nice surprises.

It's not a hotel anymore. It's a homeless shelter. So it left us in a very serious situation as the little town had limited places to stay. We had to hustle and find a place for the weekend after we arrived to the town. Take it off your list. It's not a hotel anymore!

Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. Excellent location. We were just passing through town and staying only one night, so it was really convenient to be right in the middle of town. There's a big public parking lot with lots of spaces behind the hotel.
