This place is wonderful. It exceeded our expectations. The continental breakfasts were wonderful. The rooms were perfect and clean. We were really impressed with the staff--especially the manager. He knew so much about the Island and happenings around town. Plus he was so willing to share this will us! There is a lovely area out back of the hotel where you can sit and chat with friends. This hotel is less than a 3 minute walk from town. We were more than pleased with our selection to stay at 76 Main Street.
Located alongside the Nantucket Harbour, this hotel boasts an on-site spa as well as rooms with scenic waterfront views. Boutique shops and art galleries are within 10 minutes’ walk.

Definitely recommend Gail’s Tour, wonderful way to see the island and learn it’s history. Whale museum is a must, attend the presentations. Best restaurant for us was the DUNE. Born & Bread for Breakfast. So many eateries to choose from. We went in early May and no crowds.

We walked a LOT around town and the historical homes of Nantucket, which was good for us. Anyone with instability or bad joints would not enjoy the walking. We didn't have time to see more of the island and didn't know exactly where to go or how to get there. It was COOL and windy in late April. We liked our cottage at the boat basin.

A very special island off the coast of New England.
A very special island off the coast of New England. More than 60% is land trust and the rest is super expensive beautiful 19th century homes. There is plenty to do such as swimming, surfing, hiking, and biking. The shoulder season i.e. May, June, September, and October is magnificent and a good value. There are nice B&Bs in historic houses as well as hotels. There is a nice variety of excellent restaurants. A good candidate for your bucket list.

Nantucket is a great place to spend a day or a week. There are many great places to dine or have a drink. We didn't go to the beach this time but we have in the past and they're beautiful. If you're on a tight budget you may want to find another option or just go for the day.

This was our first trip to Nantucket (even though I'm from New England!). We explored the island by bike. There are dedicated bike paths but not everywhere so you do end up riding on the tar road. Island traffic seems to be used to bikers, though; they even stop for you when they don't have to according to traffic laws: better safe than sorry but a bit annoying for experienced street bikers (we live in the Netherlands). Beware of biking routes (via Google) that send you via Main Street — this is full of old-fashioned cobblestones that cannot be ridden with a bike!
Being an island, many restaurants are quite expensive, but not all of them are worth the money. We particularly enjoyed the Nantucket Tap Room and Ventuno. or, The Whale is popular but the tin ceiling plus music plus limited menu with no subs is frustrating... and breakfast places that offer 'standard' fare are hard to find. There's a surprisingly large Stop 'n Shop in the harbor as well as on the other side of town.
We stayed Mon-Fri, which was enough time to see the entire island by bike. We biked to the Cisco Brewery but the tour is $20pp so that explains why some bikers have to be picked up instead of biking back to the harbor!

We took the "slow ferry", no car.
We took the "slow ferry", no car. We booked a van tour with Gail's Tours for the first afternoon. She hit the highlights of her island, providing an entertaining narrative of the island's history and inhabitants. We found plenty of things to do and see within walking distance of our hotel. The Whaling Museum was a recommended stop that I'm glad we saw. Just walking through the village was wonderful. So much history! One day we took the bus to Sconset, did the Bluff Walk, and took a walking tour with Rick through the village of historic homes. If we were here longer than our 3 days we would have liked to explore more of the island outside the main town. It was recommended to get dinner reservations, which we neglected to do. So, after the first day, we booked dinners for the rest of the trip. We ate at the Tap Room (sea bass was excellent!), the Sea Grille (blackened tuna was terrific) and Brotherhood of Thieves (clam chowder--best we've had!) We traveled in the shoulder season and avoided the crowds, but missed out on the places that weren't open yet. We traveled pre-Memorial Day, the weather was on the cool and windy side, so we never got to the beaches. Next time!
Property is conveniently located near downtown shops, and restaurants. They did offer a continental breakfast in the morning and that was convenient to grab a little something on your way out. Walking distance to the ferry, however, if you have a lot of luggage that would be inconvenient. Hotel provides shuttle service to local beaches and to the ferry. upon leaving their hotel. Room and bathrooms are small, however, nicely maintained and cleaned daily. The robes provided were comfortable, and a very nice touch.
Wow the bed sheet were so soft and the mattress was firm yet soft, honestly a dream. The pillows were perfect. There is a light above the bed, a sizeable closet, plenty of blankets and the AC was pumpingggg. The veranda was lovely, and the widow's walk was to die for. Claire is super nice, friendly and helpful. She has really great food tips! The place is just around the corner from downtown, only a five minute walk to all the main attractions.
Everything was fabulous. You get an old inn feel that is clean and updated where you will appreciate it (bathrooms) while maintaining the vintage feel of Nantucket. Our room was great. The outside patio was great place to hang out with the bottle of wine bought around the corner. Breakfast every morning was homemade and amazing. We will definitely come back and would recommend to friends and family.
Nate is the beating heart of the Anchor Inn- Nate sets such a lovely tone for the Inn. A home from home - really welcoming and friendly . Nate brought us food one night after his daughters party - an extra touch .
Really clean and comfortable rooms - slept great in the beds . Spacious rooms , nice continental breakfast.
The hotel is walking distance to my appointment. The staff treated the guests with cordiality and generosity. Special mention to Monica who was so friendly and accommodating. Cliff Lodge uses Matouk luxury linens in their bath and beds. I highly recommend Cliff Lodge.
We really appreciated the spacious rooms compared to the other places we have stayed in Nantucket. The bed was comfortable, AC was excellent, and shower was not cramped either. The breakfast snacks were a nice option and the location was great for walking everywhere.
Amazing spot on Nantucket- just steps from the main town and offering amazing facilities (free e-bikes to explore the island, light breakfast, beach towels). The staff was amazing to my partner and I. Definitely coming back here next time we're visiting the island!
One of my (new) favorite inns in Nantucket! Have stayed at many over the years, but the hospitality and square footage of the rooms are unbeatable at anywhere near the price. Can’t recommend enough, my mom and I had a lovely time — also location is perfect!
The Staff, location, breakfast and decor were excellent. It's a Beautiful historic nantucket home turned boutique hotel. Lovely snacks and warm cookies every afternoon.
Parking on street nearby was fairly easy too!
Beautiful updated, modern and comfortable boutique hotel. Pretty outdoor terrace to enjoy complimentary breakfast and an evening cocktail. Complimentary beach chairs with coolers and umbrellas for the beach!
Great location in downtown Nantucket, within walking distance of everything and a quick bike to the beach. Nice lawn area and gas fire pit. Bathroom was newly renovated and nice.
Great location, cute and nicely renovated hotel, very cute and cozy. amazing staff, very friendly and helpful. loved that you can text with staff if you need anything.
We really enjoyed staying in this charming, old Nantucket home. Nate was wonderful, and even moved us to a larger, nicer room! I will definitely stay there again!
