I have visited NYC several times and even lived there for a year. Taking into account the high hotel fares in the city, I think that Moxy is a smart choice. The room felt more ample than it was. It was modern, clean and the bed and pillows were really comfortable. I loved the luggage storage service, it was easy to use and extremely convenient. Besides, all interactions with personnel (including check-in and out) were very agile. The location was also perfect. I will be back next time I visit NYC!

Comparing this trip (post-Covid) to one immediately before...
Comparing this trip (post-Covid) to one immediately before Covid lock downs, there are so many FEWER tourists that it makes the city wonderfully pleasant to visit/stay and you, the visitor, feel like a native. Even major mid-town tourist haunts (Times Square, 5th Avenue, Rock Center, Saks, Bloomingdales, etc), seem vacant by NYC standards. Amazing to be able to walk these, and others (St. Pat's, the MET, subway lines, Staten Island Ferry, 911 Memorial/Museum ) without a crush of humanity and abhorrently long lines for entry. HOWEVER ... and, there's always a "however" ... prices and entry criteria have changed and the City is more expensive than ever. Still ... well worth a visit.

New York City is the best city in the world as far as I’m concerned. It was a wonderful place to visit - so much to see and do. We (two women) walked almost everywhere, including at night, and never felt unsafe. We spent a lot of time exploring Times Square, Hells kitchen, the Broadway area, Little Italy, Chinatown, Greenwich Village, and we also walked the High Line, which is so unique and beautiful. We visited the attraction RiseNY which we really liked, Rockefeller Center, FAO Schwartz, The LEGO store on 5th, and M&M Immersive Experience. We took a Secret Food Tour of Chinatown, Little Italy and Nolita, a Gangsters and Ghosts tour of Chinatown, Little Italy, and Greenwich Village, saw Book of Mormon, and took a pedi-can tour of Central Park. Highly recommend all of these! We rode the subway, and again did not feel unsafe. We ate Breakfasts at the Times Square Diner & Grill, Mom’s Kichen & Bar and Carnegie Dine and Cafe, all of which we liked very much. We stayed at the Belvedere Hotel in Hell’s kitchen, which was terrific. Great location, reasonable price, excellent service. We were there for three days and walked 22.5 miles. It was an incredible trip. I can’t wait to visit again and see some of the things we missed, and spend more time at some of the places we especially enjoyed.

One has to walk Manhattan to get to know the city: Walking Central Park from north to south, walking in Greenwich village and Tribeca, visiting Pier 17, Dumbo, Pier 35 and Little Island, walking in upper West End and upper East End are "must dos". Visiting Edge in Hudson Yards can give another perspective of the city. Can't get enough of NY!!

If you're going to NYC, I assume you've done your homework.
If you're going to NYC, I assume you've done your homework. The only negative (which applies to the US in general), is the tipping culture. 20 - 25% is the norm. Coming from the UK where 10% is standard and accepted as normal, anything more than this is a cultural shock.

I love NYC. I find something new every time I visit.
I love NYC. I find something new every time I visit. The city has so much to offer. I have walked every time I have been there and that is the best way to see this beautiful city. My last visit I was able to walk the Brooklyn Bridge and that was so awesome seeing the view of Manhattan . In December, I went to the Rockettes Christmas show and felt just like a child again. The show was captivating, and I didn't want it to end. I love to see The Statue of Liberty and every time I see it, I am so impressed with her.
I pay my respect to the 911 Memorial and think it is a beautiful tribute to those who lost their lives. There is so much to see and so much culture and history in NYC.

Love the location, cute small boutique hotel, rooms are small but what I expected for NYC, some issues with shower draining and would have loved better lighting for getting ready or applying makeup in the bathroom. Had a great fitness center and the coffee shop was fantastic for great morning cappuccinos. We did not visit the restaurant but the menu and the vibe looked great!
"My two-night stay at the Civilian Hotel was nothing short of wonderful. The hotel's boutique style exudes charm, with every detail meticulously curated to offer a unique and delightful experience. The staff deserves special mention for their warm and welcoming hospitality that truly made me feel at home. The hotel's great location on 48th Street, near Times Square, Broadway theaters is an added bonus. Plus, the close proximity to subway stations all within a 5-minute walk is just perfect for city exploration.
We had very nice stay, the hotel is clean and well located, you can reach Times square, Rockefeller center, Bryan park etc by walking. The room was a bit small but it had everything you can need. (the bathroom is not well isolated, and its separated just by sliding doors, just to keep in mind if sharing the room with not a close person). Breakfast was nice, personally i would prefer a bit more vegetables, but it was okay. In general we had a great stay during holiday season in the center of Manhattan.
The main and biggest asset of this place is its location. For a very reasonable price you can stay in the heart of Manhattan. You can get on foot in only 15 minutes to Madison Square Garden, 20 minutes to Times Square and 25 minutes to Empire State Building. There's also a big communication hub nearby (train + metro) - the Pennsylvania Station, where you're most likely to end up when arriving from JFK. Hotel staff is very helpful, so if you need anything don't be afraid to ask them.
Pod Hotel is so very well located at Hell's Kitchen in midtown, very close from Times Square, Hudson Yards, Penn Station and Port Authority Bus terminal... if fact, when you stay at Pod Hotel you are very close to everything in Manhattan. My room was a little bit small, but very confortable... the bathroom was very spacious and smart. Pod hotel is a wonderful place to stay in New York, i wil stay there again in my next trip to NYC.
My expectations were very low. This is by far the least expensive hotel available in New York City (at least a "regular" hotel - I knew there was a shared bathroom. It was clean and functional - and it was a regular toilet/bathroom - just not for my own private use. I was there for only a short night - and very pleased with what I got for my money.
Hotel is in a fantastic location walking distance to almost everything. We had a great room - big for New York standards with a view of the ball. The hotel is very modern with a good size bathroom. Staff where excellent room well appointed with everything we needed including umbrella - which we needed. Had a wonderful stay in New York City!
My room was very good. Very comfortable, and also very clean.
The location of the hotel is in the heart of Manhattan. In MidTown Near Times Square, Near Empire State, and everything i wanted to visit what maximum 20 minutes away by train.
I didnt have breakfast there so i dont know how it is, but as an overall it was a very good stay.
The location can't be beat. If you want to be near Times Square or the theater district, this is where you want to be. The room was a decent size for New York City and the staff was always very helpful. Breakfast was included in the price - the Grab and Go was handy but for $5 - the french toast in the cafe was definitely worth it.
On the cheaper end of hotels in Manhattan. Location is very good. I don't mind the size of the rooms, either... My walk-in closet is bigger than the space but it gets the job done (after all, I don't come to the city to stay in my hotel all day). Front desk staff are kind and friendly! Overall a decent value.
I loved it that such a great Hotel was smack dab in the middle of Manhattan and had everything I needed. I liked the interior as it showed historical architectural structures.
I loved the ambient, it always felt very comfortable and safe arriving “home” after my day trips through New York City.
It’s one of the cheapest alternatives in Manhattan. Staff were friendly and the hotel was clean. Excellent location in Koreatown, just next to Empire State. It’s a walking distance to Times Square and even to SoHo if you’re a good walker.
Fantastic hotel, with perfect location close to lots of restaurants and shops. It sits in New York City’s best area. Rooms are clean, very nice and the bed is super comfy. Precisely what you need after long walks in the city!
Loved the location near times square. The room size was expected given New York City. But a good use of space, and a nice modern, clean room. The hotels recommendation of the city parking garage two avenues away was great…
I stayed there for 16 nights. Loved how clean it is. The location is quite central. Near to subway stations and just a 10 minutes walk from Times Square. Recommended if you're looking for cheap accomodation in Manhattan.
The bed was incredibly comfortable, the service every day was perfect and the location just the best! I would reccomend this hotel to everyone that is looking for spending time in New York city and especially Manhattan
It is my absolute favorite hotel to stay at when I am in New York City. It is close to many great attractions. It has an amazing private dog park that is attached to the hotel. They are extremely pet friendly.
This is my go to hotel when in New York City. Perfect location, the best staff, rooms are nice size clean and very comfortable. Breakfast is include which is very nice. I would highly recommend this hotel.
Fantastic location and excellent price for a great hotel in Midtown Manhattan. Walking distance from Times Square and a subway station at the end of the street makes the whole city very easily accessible!
Great service. Although can’t call it cheap, but regarding New York prices, good value for money. Close to subway and can reach Times Square, Barclays Center and JFK with just one ride.
