Machachi
At the country house, some units have a private entrance, dining area, fireplace and dishwasher. Some units feature a balcony and/or a patio with mountain or garden views. At the country house, the units have bed linen and towels. Exceptional hospitality and kindness from Aracely. She was really helpful with giving us various option on how to get to Cotopax where to eat or get groceries. The village uat really small and vety calm and safe. We ended up taking the private tour to Cotopaxi which costed $65 for both if us and we like it a lot (the guide was great). Alternatively, you can walk down to the highway, flag a bus or hitchhiker to the entrance of the national park and then get a guide at the entrance of the park. When booking the rooms just beware that there are different houses, we ended up staying in the one not shown on the pictures by mistake, which was fine but we were a bit confused in the beginning haha The shower didn't work the first day, but they fixed it the day after so all good.

Close to main street but nice and quiet location, friendly staff, lots of information about the various activities in the surrounding area, secure parking possibility for rental car.
We liked the view and the activities such as hiking and horse riding (even if it was paid extra). The restaurant was good.
Ideal location to start summit to Iliniza Norte or Sur, or just do hiking. Frank, the landlord, is a nice and helpful guy who can rent climbing gear for very affordable prices and provide any sort of advice and sort your problems. Recommend Iliniza Wasi for hikers and climbers.
Quiet place, good for people who want to rest before or after a hike. 0.50 to a night to store luggage.
Perfect place to stay before doing any trekking. Hostel owner is.a guide and is very knowledgeable and will give you all the information you need to plan your trek and you can also store your luggage there for free. Hostel is basic but has everything you need and is clean and has decent wifi
Very nice place with Diego being one of the most wonderful recent hosts. Gave us lots of input for our hiking adventure and helped with easy booking. If you want to start some "walk" to Cotopaxi, that's THE place.
The Hostel is super good located in the middle of the city. The staff was very friendly and nice, they had a lot of good advices for restaurants, tours, busses, etc. Every evening it was very quiet in the hostel, so sleeping was very relaxed. From the sky terrace you can have a great view on the Cotopaxi when there are no clouds. The breakfast was very tasty and a good amount before you go hiking. You can book tours directly in the hostel.
