Ideally situated on Stranraer seafront, overlooking Loch Ryan and just 5 minutes' walk from the town centre and train station, this family-run guest house offers free Wi-Fi, ample, free, off-street parking, scenic views and cooked breakfasts. Cairnryan ferry terminal is only a 5-minute drive. The host, Elaine, was exceptional. Our room was at the back of the house and nice and quiet. Complimentary sips of whisky and chocolate helped us relax after a terrible travel day. Easy walking to city center and train station. Vegan breakfast was delicious.

All rooms in the inn are fitted with a flat-screen TV. Rooms are equipped with a kettle, while some rooms have a kitchen with a fridge, a dishwasher and an oven. At Masonic Arms Gatehouse each room includes bed linen and towels. Very comfortable bed, large shower. The hotel also provided us with a steamer as they knew we were going to attend the wedding. Very sweet girl at the breakfast (for additional price but massive portions)

I stayed at this B&B on my way from Glasgow to Galloway Lighthouse. Late check-in after 11pm was not an issue. Parking was available right next to the entrance. Homemade complimentary shortbread and cold milk made my late arrival less stressful. The facility itself is extremely clean and thoughtfully designed. Breakfast was delicious and filling.

Carlisle Railway Station is 45 km away and Carlisle Castle is 45 km from the bed and breakfast. Check-in was super easy and thorough. Owner was lovely. View was amazing. Decorations were comfortable, beautiful, and thoughtful. Breakfast was fresh and extensive.

Moffat Independent Hostel is a friendly, family run, luxury hostel that has been set up with the outdoor enthusiast in mind. Moffat is quaint town in the heart of the Southern Uplands and is a popular stop on a number of Britain's best long distance biking and hiking trails, including the Southern Upland Way & the John o’Groats to Land’s End cycling route. It also provides the perfect base for exploring this beautiful and often forgotten part of Southern Scotland, with it's castles, forests, waterfalls, lochs and vast expanse of wilderness. The owners made this place look super beautiful and comfy! For a hostel, my room was small (only 4 beds) and it came with an ensuite bathroom! (It does mean a little less "acoustic privacy", but also the luxury of having to share with a maximum of 3 other people!) The owners also took their time to give me recommendations and assistance, even though they were super busy with other jobs. The kitchen is fully equipped and for eating and hanging out there are a lovely dining room (with a record player!) and a comfy games room inside and more seating outside - it's just beautiful, I highly recommend a visit!

Situated in Stranraer, in a historic building, 700 metres from Stranraer Beach, Thornbank House is a guest house with a fitness centre and indoor pool. This guest house has a private pool, a garden and free private parking. Guests can make use of the sun terrace or the picnic area, or enjoy views of the sea and garden. This is our third time staying at Thornbank House and it never fails to disappoint. Rang up on the morning for an early check in due to a poor nights sleep the night before and Fiona was very accomodating which I thank her immensely for. Wonderful breakfast and location.

At the inn, all rooms come with a wardrobe, a flat-screen TV, a private bathroom, bed linen and towels. The view, the vibe, the staff and the food are all excellent. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Perfect stop for a few nights.
