The place itself is very clean and tidy. You really feel at home and cozy. The terrace is incredible. Its big and has multiple couches and tables for any activity (eat/work/chill), hammock - all that overlooking the pool and beatifull surroundings. It has lights and power sockets there as well as a ceiling fan, so you can really be there any time of the day. An excellent opportunity to spot some animals and birds right by your house. We even had baby birds being born on the terrace during our stay. The kitchen is equipped with everything you might need. The only place that actually had it all. Pool temperature was perfect, one of the best we had in 3 month travel. And generally built comfortably with sitting area, deep area and a shallow, really nice. Has pool beds and hammock by the side of the pool with tables. Also it closes pretty late compared to other hotels (20 or 22 dont actually remember the exact time but it was late enough). The place is surrounded by beautiful high bamboo trees upfront, green mountain litteraly on the bedroom side and a lot of green big trees in which you could spot a lot of things. We happen to see toucans, squirrels and other diferents colorful birds, even Macau passing by. And at night its a symphony of sounds. The host, RJ, was really nice and polite, came to greet us at our arrival, suggested upfront an early checkin without us even asking and was okay with a late check-out. Recommended a good places to eat and to get a drink. Road to the place is about 5 min on gravel , but alongside a beatifuly running river between the green trees. 5 min drive theres stores, supermarket, restaurants and bars. 20min drive to Uvita.

There is free parking in front of the hotel and it takes 5-10 minutes to get to the national park entrance along paved roads.

The Manuel Antonio park was a highlight. We particularly liked the beach. After having explored the coast from Manuel Antonio to Puntarenas, there is not much point going swimming elsewhere other than in M.A. with the exception of Jaco for the waves (surfers).

Avoid this area
Roads are horrible, We stayed there to visit Tortuga Island for the day and planned to take ferry across to Puntarenas to stay at next hotel in Manuel Antonio Park. Isla Tortuga was beautiful but we were told by boat driver he would return to pick us up at 2 and he didn't show up, officials had to call boat company from Parquera to make arrangements for our return. We arrived back safely to our car then drove to the buy ferry tickets around 4:30pm, there was a line up. We were next to drive on ship but were told that the ship was already full, many cars lined up behind us with very disappointed people. We had to turn back and drive around to our destination It took us about 8 hours to get around to Manuel Antonio Park. I would avoid this area.People from this area just don't get it.

Miles of beaches, just turn into town and get off the highway.
If you are traveling along the highway and had thought you may want to stay in Puntarenas but changed your mind as you drove by think again. The view from the highway gives the impression of a port town with no beach. But this is not the case. There is miles of beautiful beaches. Turn off the highway and go into the town.

I just stayed there one night to take the ferry the next morning to Paqueras, travelling around Costa Rica for a while, you realise that Puntarenas is a place of passing and not staying there. Maybe i needed to stay longer to see the town but seeing the streets, shops and bars was enough for me, after coming from total nature it's quite industrial place.

Puntarenas is very dirty city. I can't believed tourist see the trash on the street and on the beach. They say that it is ecological in Costa Rica in parks and vegetation area but why it is not cleaned in Puntarenas especially by the ferrys. Why the government do not take care of this problem? The ticos are very friendly and nice contrariais. They helped us to find the hotel.

Puntarenas could and should be a beautiful city by the sea but isn't. It is run down, dirty city with homeless people sleeping under trees, asking for money and picking thru the garbage. There is garbage and dog droppings all over the beach. It's scary walking the streets in the middle of the afternoon. We ate a couple of the restaurants but most places served the same thing.

Great location! 2 mn from the beach. Plenty of restaurants, shops, bars around. The hotel is very peaceful, decorated with taste with a nice pool and a beautiful garden. We had a big room on the first floor with garden view. The staff was very nice and helpful. Definitely a place to recommend ! It is also walking distance to the bus stop to San Jose and the bus line Puntarenas Quepos (Parc Manual Antonio) is right at the end of the street.

This lodge is amazing. We had been here many many times, even taking here our groups for birdwatching and we/they all love it. Hotel grounds are amazing, nice trails, trees, flowery bushes, river, birds, mammals and more. Restaurant is lovely at the river, personal is very kind and helpful. All waiters are awesome, Luis and Melkin are great and our favorites, but the others as well.. just don't know all of their names to mention.🤔 😉 Big thank to them for a lively little cake for my birthday!😉Food is also good with lot of vegetables and fruits🙂 Receptionists are also all very kind, Fiorella and Magaly are always helpful and smiling.. The location is absolutely gorgeous. Our room was simple but beautiful and the back porch of our room was like a treehouse overlooking the ocean. The staff was very helpful and kind and the food was delicious. The location is very isolated, so just plan your activities with that in mind.

was a unique experience to sleep in the forest with all the comfort. hosts were amazing, gave us few advises and helped us to make one reservation. breakfast was served and we could choose what we want. overall a great stay!

Loved the VIEW from and deck of our room! Was beyond anything I expected!! And Jans our concierge was exceptional, making our activities/excursions so easy - no research, no personal booking, no figuring out which is the best one, no scheduling rides - Jans took care of all of it and it was a dream that pushed our experience over the top. And the wildlife that came to our deck from the treetop canopy - every day we got our own personal close up tour: spider monkeys, capuchins, toucans, macaws, sloths, iguanas - all of it: amazing!
