Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

MalaysiaWindow of room 9 won't close properly and luckily it is not winter yet. There was one day where storm hit Sydney and rained whole day. After which, seen some coakroaches in the room which I didn't notice before the rain. The mini bar was not very cold but just cool.
Pantry and bathrooms have fair service and replenishment of items. Occasionally ran out sugar or shampoo during higher number of occupants on certain days. Love the response of staffs and Sam has been proactive and thoughtful in offering storage of luggage on last day of my stay. I really felt that the hotel is trying their best to be hospitable in many ways possible. Had a wonderful stay and definitely will recommend to friends who likes to visit Cathedral, Museums, Royal.Botanical Park, Hyde Barrack etc.....all walking distances.

New ZealandPerfect stay, absolutely no complaints! The bar opens till 1am, but was super happy that in our bedroom, couldn't hear the music etc at all! Massive thank you to your wonderful house keeping lady, we lost a ring in the room & hadn't realised until after we checked out. She found it & attached it to out bags ready for collection later <3 Location was perfect, we walked in / out of the city everyday, in about 10 minutes- and the room was gorgeous, spacious, clean & cool style - the balcony was lovely to have too.

AustraliaI absolutely loved this hotel. Its vintage charm was very appealing, it was affordable, it was in a fantastic location, it was very clean and the staff were helpful and professional. I loved it and will use this hotel every time I visit Sydney from now on. Also the pub is open very late so that’s convenient too.

SwitzerlandGreat location, just 15 mins walk from the Opera House. Rooms are almost historic, but offer modern comfort. Very friendly staff, all clean, safe surroundings. Shared bathrooms, but enough of them not having to wait. Staff is willing to help with luggage storage, if needed. There is no breakfast, but there are several cafés nearby. Would be happy to come back!

United StatesInconsiderate other hotel guests that shed their hair all over the shared bathroom and don't clean up after themselves.
Love the old charm of this hotel/pub. Manager was helpful and responsive. Room was outfitted with high intensity fans as there's no a/c. Great location on bus line and close to downtown.

Price and location. Also the fact no security deposit was needed as I paid online. It’s never easy to come up with 100 spare dollars even when you’re going to have it returned.

New ZealandRoom 9 was small, but functional. Windows/screens had gaps. No aircon. Noisy traffic. The coffee/tea/water station in the hallway was good, but not always serviced, so I had to ask several times for replenishments.
Location, friendly staff, price.

New ZealandUnfortunately I did encounter a cockroach in my room, but the hotel is over 100 years old. The rooms have no air conditioning. The windows need to be open on hot nights and the street noise is quite loud. There is no breakfast service.
The facility is a very old classic hotel, very nice and clean with a fantastic pub downstairs. Don't expect high end, but clean and tidy and well priced.

GermanyThere was nothing to complain about.
At first, the rooms were super clean, the beds ultra comfy and the shared bathrooms excellent (clean, spacious, bright and smelled good + the provided body wash & shampoo from SUKIN is a big plus!). The staff was very friendly and welcoming, the communication via Mail was quick and easy (thx Sam) and the location of the Hotel is excellent. I would definitely come back and it would be my first choice.

AustraliaThere's a fan in the room but no aircon and not a lot of airflow, so it can get hot and muggy.

United StatesThe rooms are not air conditioned and we had some warm nights. However the provided large fan made our stay comfortable enough. The three shared bathrooms were adequate and we never had to wait for availability.
Excellent location and great value for the price. The staff were friendly and accommodating. We stayed 4 nights and were able to leave our luggage with them on checkout day as we had a later flight. Really loved how everything in Sydney was in walking distance. The walk to St. James Station for the airport train was 10 minutes.
