There wasn’t a single thing we didn’t like. The property far exceeded our expectations. The only thing we didn’t like is that we didn’t own it ourselves.

A “home away from home”. It was very welcoming to arrive with fresh milk and eggs in the fridge. Plenty of crockery (including China mugs which I adore and plastic utensils when grandchildren visited). Lots of books and DVDs as well. The garden was a joy to walk around.

"Home away from home" with every possible amenity supplied (a wonderful collection of books, CDs and DVDs available for guests to utilise) set in lovely gardens. Perfect for a relaxing holiday - many thanks John and Elizabeth.

John and Elizabeth are very hospitable people. We really appreciated the extra effort John went to, to bring over toys for my toddler to play with. The house was spotless, comfortable and homely. We had a very comfortable stay and would not hesitate to rebook.

John, the host was so friendly. It was easy to find, directions from John were brilliant. It was a great location, and easy to forget you were in a big city minutes from the bay. It was so tranquil , and the rooms were so spacious. Our family loved it and cannot wait to book again next time we are in Newcastle.

Everything! I received a warm welcome upon arrival and was shown around the accommodation. It is set in a beautiful garden, set back from the road. I was there for just 2 nights, therefore, I didn't have time to make full use of what was available (e.g. the swimming pool, hundreds of books & DVDs or the sofa!). The kitchen was well equipped and some food was supplied (e.g. bread, spread, peanut butter, vegemite, milk, cereal, pasta & more). The bed was comfortable in a good-sized room. The bath/shower room was clean and with plenty of space. A great location with Lake Macquarie a few minutes drive away. I'm sure I've forgotten something, but I certainly recommend staying here. Really good value for money when taking in to account everything that's available at Werekataba.

Great Fresh eggs, very helpful chooks!!! Very private location was much appreciated. Nice and quiet. Very helpful hosts. They go above and beyond leaving you wanting for nothing.

There was nothing we didn't like about our stay.

Quiet and peaceful location, also very central to lots of things to do. Our host Elizabeth gave us some very good tips on places of interest in the area. The place is very well appointed, they've thought of everything.

We have been staying at John and Elizabeth's place when we can book it (it's very popular and usually sold out in a flash). It's a beautiful and unique place as John and Elizabeth continue putting their work to ensure the quality of Werekataba. Love the well maintained and designed big garden area outside and love the thoughtful and quality items/things prepared within the house (eg. good saucepans all needed utensils, comfortable lounge, coffee machine, washing machine and a dryer, clothing line outside as well.....). Both John and Elizabeth are friendly and very accommodating, we had to change our plan to shorten our stay due to a sudden change of kids activity, they even modified the booking for us. Thanks so much to John and Elizabeth.

Awesome setting and we did not have to bother about the outside world. Just a marvelous relaxation. Great little cottage and setting, perfect hosts. This property suited us to a tee.

Lovely cozy home. Perfect for the family holiday. Had everything u need for a family kitchen to bath, even they had baby products! Very thoughtful. Felt like a real family home.

The location is quiet and away from the busyness of traffic etc. Great hosts, place is older style but impeccably clean and comfortable. Great full kitchen. Great barbecue area. Wish we could have stayed longer. Great place to just rest.
