Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwitzerlandA bit of traffic flowing at night, but quiet after midnight.
Small (ten rooms), personalized, safe and high quality hotel convenient located at the city center. The room and bathroom were large, comfortable and lovely. Fresh fruit and diverse choices for breakfast. We both arrived jet lagged and ill; the concierge was extraordinarily helpful, kind and considerate with our recovery, including preparing a light dinner when the restaurant was closed! We have seldom received this much care at any hotel. We can strongly recommend The Orchids for your next trip to Bogota!

United StatesThis is a fantastic old-school hotel in the heart of the Candelaria. It's totally unique. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The included breakfast was great every morning. If you don't want to stay in just another cookie-cutter hotel, this is the place for you. Plaza Bolivar is right around the corner and there are some cute restaurants nearby.

United StatesOur only complaint would be the walls provided little insulation from noise inside the hotel. This may be related to the room we were given, but seemed a general characteristic of the building.
The location was central to La Candelaria, easy walking to museums and restaurants. The hotel staff were attentive and very helpful. The breakfast served was ample and excellent. Decor was a feast for the eyes.

ItalyIn order to access the property you need to ring the bell. Which was very safe; however once we were waiting for half an hour and no one answered. We were ringing the bell, knocking at the door and calling the hotel but nothing. We had to change our plans and go out instead of relaxing in our room as we were initially planning.
Very big and clean rooms. Great location and safe.

United KingdomWe wanted a couple of days in a hotel that was not cookie cutter. This was certainly the place. It is beautiful and in a perfect location to explore the historical center of Bogota. It was a short walk to many restaurants. The service was excellent and the breakfast was outstanding. All of the rooms have a different theme. We were given the "A midsummer nights dream" room. It was huge and beautifully furnished. The bathroom also had his and hers sinks, a bathtub and his and her showers. I highly recommend this hotel.

United KingdomRoom had a bathroom understandable put in due to architecture of the stunning hotel. But the sink is to far back and difficult to use. The shower is good and opposite is a separate toilet. The bed is huge.
The location is fantastic, so close to all the main locations, very safe area, so many restaurants and the more authentic Bogota at your fingertips. Very helpful staff, lots of nice touches. Fabulous breakfast

PortugalIt is an old building and still needs a lot of improvements, structural and in facilities. It is obvious that a lot of many was invested, but still it does not meet a luxury status. Decoration in some point is cheap and completely unnecessary. Cleaning was ok, but basic an deep cleaning had some issues, as great and big windows which were not clean, TV monitor with inclination etc. WI-FI was poor quality and signal. Breakfast was served by butler and in a pretentious room, but the choice and the quality of the food was median and let's say "french style" ( small quantity, which I personally do not mind, but someone could). What I did not really like was: a necessity to pay more 50 euros due to a fact that I asked for an Invoice. It is small money, but I visited several hotels in Colombia and never was asked to pay extra money because I asked for an Invoice. At least, not at all an elegant attitude.
Medieval Palace transformed in a small hotel. Charming and potentially excellent hotel for a luxury hotel. Great spaces, well organised into hotel rooms. Polite and helpful staff. Excellent location in safe neighbourhood, in proximity of all mayor points of interest.

DenmarkNot really anything. Te hotel exceeded expectations.
Excellent accommodation. The staff was very, very friendly and helpful, the breakfast was plentiful and was selected from a menu - i.e. not from a buffet but made to order - and the location is excellent, just round the corner from Plaza Bolívar, the Gold Museum, the Botero Museum and other important sights. The room was very large and quiet. Highly recommended

United StatesNothing went wrong.
The Orchids is a beautiful boutique hotel. There are 4 rooms which means personal service and very quiet. It is in the heart of the historical district of Bogota and thus very central to everything. It seems to us to be in a more secure area. The hotel itself is very secure. You should not have a problem here. The staff are very nice. Rooms have no air conditioning, but all you need to do is open the window at night as it cools to around a refreshing 50 degrees. The weather is beautiful in Bogota and consistent. There is a free breakfast every morning with fresh homemade food. The room has a historic look with amazing (seems like) 20 foot ceilings and beautiful wood trim around everything. But the bathrooms are completely contemporary and look like something you might see in a design magazine. Do not hesitate to stay here. It has everything you will need. If we go back I would not hesitate to stay at this hotel.

United StatesFor a five star hotel, the hotel itself is a bit tired, in need or what looks like a lot of minor repairs (tiles need to be replaced in the shower, for example). Its charm (and its 5-stars) lies in its staff as well as its age and provenance, but updates of the infrastructure would be very welcome for a guest in 2024.
The staff is simply terrific, most helpful, gracious and welcoming -- couldn't be better! The breakfast was very good American style, made to order. I foun d the bed very comfortable (and I am picky). Overall, as charming as advertised.,

United StatesI highly recommend staying here while visiting Bogotá. The hotel is in the historic La Candelaria neighborhood, which has a lot of the museums and sites that people want to see in Columbia. If you book it, it comes with a complementary breakfast that is prepared fresh daily, and made to order. Delicious! Richard was fantastic (and bilingual in English) at helping us navigate the city and answering any questions we had. The hotel itself is beautiful, a little older, but still has all the comforts you want in a hotel. Because it is an older hotel, too, the rooms are extremely spacious.
