Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. EstoniaThe bed is very basic. Stairways are steep and narrow, be aware if you have large bag. Not enough power outlets in the room - people have phones and smartwatches these days that need to be charged.
Nice little getaway in the middle of mountains. Small hotel with only 6 rooms, close to La Molina. Hotel and whole cottage is very authentic. Views from top floor windows are spectacular.

This was an unexpected great find. It was really lovely and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. It was a lovely room, very clean and good shower. We had a lovely evening meal and a good breakfast of bacon, egg and croissants.

United KingdomWe were expecting a small casa rural - but actually the property is more like a small hotel, with a large restaurant and as far as we could tell no family living in the building where our room was. We ate in the restaurant at night, but there was no breakfast available because the restaurant was closed for a festival that day. No shops etc within 6 kilometres, which was a problem for us as we were on foot. To be fair, after some haggling, the staff did make us a sandwich to take to our room the night before. But, this was a poor breakfast substitute, and not what we had expected from a casa rural (no warning when we made our booking that it would be closed).
The restaurant which is attached to the property was excellent. Location is good if travelling by car. Room was very clean and comfortable. We were off season, so a very quiet experience as the only guests. The problem we highlight below would almost certainly not have occurred in season, so most guests should really see the positives in this review. However, off season travellers should check directly with the property regarding opening of facilities.

Very rural superb beautiful location on the slopes of the Pyrenees. All the staff were very friendly, especially the owner Maria. Room and bathroom very clean. If we are ever in that area again we will definitely stay there.

Located in a beautiful tiny village with a view! We had plenty of space including our own kitchen and dining room which surprised us as it was not in the description. The owner was lovely enough to pick us up from the station and drop us off upon check-out. Would highly recommend!
