Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesWow, no words to describe what an incredible place this is! The best view and breakfast you will have in your life, in a truly one-of-a-kind location full of sweet details like beautiful flowers and other treats in the house to make the trip extra special. Johsi is the sweetest host and an incredible woman - she speaks great Spanish and English, and helped us park our manual car when we were struggling to get up the help. We felt right at home with her kindness and all of the cozy details. Regret not staying longer, but for sure will be planning a trip just to come back to such a wonderful, relaxing, heart-warming place!

United StatesOur stay at Casa Maru was magical and one we’ll never forget. The beautifully designed home, remote location (but with mobile and wifi!), breathtaking views of the Picos de Europa, and close proximity to the legendary Cares Trailhead were perfect for a couple like us who love hiking, but seek luxury when off the trail. In addition to the stellar location, the host’s warmth, hospitality, and culinary expertise were above and beyond our expectations. She greeted us like old friends, made us feel right at home, and also gave us privacy to enjoy our solitude. When we get the opportunity to visit Casa Maru again, we will undoubtedly book a longer stay. It truly is a hidden gem.

United KingdomI do think the listing is misleading. A hot tub is listed but there is no hot tub. A spa bath & also a bath are listed. There is simply 1 spa bath. It could be a translation issue where hot tub is being used to mean bath, but spa bath & bath are also listed. Certainly in English a hot tub is a specific outdoor tub. This was disappointing. Also where the fixtures & fittings are to a high standard I was disappointed that the lights hanging in the kitchen are false/for decoration only.
The location & views were spectacular. The peace & quiet. Accessible parking. Near attractions & small town

ItalyThe location is wonderful and the views breath-taking. The final part of the drive up a series of hair-pin bends is not for the faint of heart but is memorable. Carmen keeps the place in order and is very helpful. The house is perfect for trekking - high up to El Cuetòn (very tough but well worth it for the spectacular 360 degree view) or across the valley to Bulnes.

United StatesWe spent three nights at Casa Maru and had a wonderful time! The house is lovely and the views are unbeatable. It’s a great spot for relaxing and accessing the many trails in the area. We really enjoyed chatting with Jhousy and the other guests who were staying there. We had dinner at Casa Maru one night which was a bit pricey but delicious. Jhousy is a great cook. The breakfasts were all top notch. One tip would be to bring some extra snacks with you just in case. The one restaurant near Casa Maru was closed the night we arrived and we were too tired from driving and hiking all day to venture out again (Jhousy offered to drive us into town to get some food which was extremely thoughtful of her—thanks Jhousy!). I cannot recommend Casa Maru highly enough!

NetherlandsWe spent two nights and had a great time. It is a beautifull house in an amazing environment. We did several different (very nice) hikes during daytime which can be easily done from home. The breakfast served was just perfect. Thanks for the good care!

CanadaCasa Maru is one of the best places I’ve stayed in my life. The rooms are immaculate, the food is fantastic and the views are breathtaking. The views are the best on the region to see Naranjo de Bulnes. They give great advice, recommendations and are just easy to talk to. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

United StatesThis is an incredible place. We had such a warm welcome and the view is jaw-droppingly beautiful in any weather. We did some amazing hikes in the area and loved having Jhousy’s place as our home base. The breakfasts were amazing (and different each day), and we even had a lovely dinner there one night. The road up was tricky the first time, but Jhousy helped us out! It’s well worth it for the view. Jhousy gave us great recommendations as well to make our stay really special. I highly, highly recommend this place — it is truly exceptional.

United KingdomThere's a few switch back on the roads to get to the accommodation but you expect that to get up high for the amazing view. The only problem being I could not get my limo up there so I had to walk..😊
The room was really well decorated with beautiful views. The host has put a lot of love her home. The breakfast was excellent cooked by the host using lots of local ingredients. The host was very welcoming with lots of local knowledge and contacts. It a perfect place to base yourself to walk the trail. She organised transport for us to start the valley trail at of the other end so we could walk back to the accommodation. Prefixed place to stay if you enjoy hiking are a writer, artist or trying to hide from the world.

United KingdomThe drive up to Casa Maru is tough...but it's so, so worth it.
I absolutely adored the host's warm hospitality; the little touches like handmade jams & bathroom products, the local knowledge & suggestions of where to go & who to say hello to, all made our experience feel so unique & special. I was blown away by the incredible views. Pictures can't prepare you for the astounding beauty that surrounds you as you enjoy your home-made breakfast watching the mist pass over the mountains. I'd highly recommend this location as the perfect place to stay if you're planning to do the Cares Gorge hike, as it's incredibly close to the starting location.

IrelandEverything was perfect :-)
What an incredible place! Casa Maru is located in a spectacular location, with stunning views all around. It's the kind of place where you could just sit and stare at the mountains all day long and not get bored. Cares Gorge and Bulnes hikes are close by. Jhousy was very kind to pick us up from Poncebos after we returned from the Cares Gorge hike. Thank goodness for that! Those last 1.5km up the hill would have been sooooo tough!!! Jhousy is a wonderful host. She knows the area well and can recommend places to see and eat. That was very helpful. The house and bedroom were beautiful and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent! The last bit of the road and parking at Casa Maru was a bit scary but totally worth it. I really wish we could have stayed there longer! Definitely hope to return one day.

SwedenA very personal and nice pension. Probably one of the nicest places I’ve stayed in. The owner was extremely friendly and helpful with both local recommendations and tips for the rest of our trip in Asturia. The house itself is beautiful and has a remarkable position in the mountains. The view for breakfast and dinner is unbeatable. The food was superb (probably best breakfast ever). Don’t miss it if you go here.

NetherlandsWhile there were only 2 rooms, if someone is in the other room (which was the case our first night), you can hear a lot of what's going on in there (even just talking). The tv in the room is quite small and with bad speakers. There is a big tv downstairs, but there was no way for us to plug in our hdmi cable to watch netflix from our laptop. There was a dvd player, but only a couple of Spanish nat geo dvds. There's nothing to do here at night, so having games and a smart tv would be excellent! I had messaged the owner 2 days prior about dinner options and parking, but didn't hear back. Apparently she didn't see it until the first night we stayed. That night we saw a dinner menu that she could cook, and we never knew that was an option (other than that, there's just a bar nearby for dinner). I asked the next morning and she said she needed 24 hours notice for this. Understandable, but I had asked 2 days prior and she hadn't answered. When she did see the messages the previous night, she again didn't mention the dinner option. I guess maybe she just didn't want to cook dinner, which is fine, but disappointing because it looked good and the bar nearby doesn't have the greatest food! I suggest putting this dinner info in the confirmation message and on booking.com and the website to make it more accessible for guests. The only other gripe was that the bathroom had no door, it was just completely open to the room. This is great for the bath, even the shower and sink, but I'd really rather the toilet was in it's own room! Not so romantic haha :|
Wow - the location of this place is truly incredible! You just cannot get enough of looking at those mountains. Eating (the delicious) breakfast from the terrace with that view is the perfect start to the day. Given the location, this place is incredibly private and quiet - I think there are only 2 rooms in the building. We had the nicer room with the spa bath, which was great after a long day of hiking. The beds were very comfortable. The owner is so warm and welcoming, a great cook, and so knowledgeable about the area. The drive up is a bit harrowing if you're not experienced, but luckily we were and it really wasn't bad at all. The only part I found scary was the parking, but really it's not too bad.
