Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ItalyThe 4 flights of very narrow stairs weren't something we looked forward to every time we'd come back (not a blocker but something to keep in mind), and the shower was very very small. Unfortunately the street was quite loud at night making it hard to sleep.
Good location, we managed to reach all points of interest. The pictures describe the place reliably, it had the appliances and features described. Very welcoming hosts making it a pleasant arrival and beginning of our holiday.

HungaryThe streets in the neighbourhood - including the whole district - were sometimes a bit smelly. But it was still a cool neighbourhood.
The accommodation was located in the gothic quarter, few minutes walk from the beach and really close tot he main streets which made us easy to reach most of the tourist attractions. The area is cosy and lively. The staircase is really narrow and there are steep steps, but it's not bad. The studio is nice, the room is comfortable, the bathroom is tiny, but it served the purpose. Pilar, the host, was very nice and helpful. Overall we were satisfied, we had a great time during our one week stay.

PolandThe only drawback that comes to my mind is a very small bathroom and shower. On the other hand, they are very clean, so it’s not that big of a deal.
Amazing location, in the center of the Gothic district, close to the beach, La Rambla, Cathedral of Barcelona and many more. The apartment is very clean and has all the necessary amenities. It looks like in the pictures. The host lady is very friendly and there was no problem with check-in and check-out. Just remember about the steep stairs and the deposit of 150 EUR in cash - but both things are mentioned in the Booking listing. Generally very good value for money.

HungaryThe apartment was in the middle of the Gotic district of Barcelona. There were metro, bus and also a lot of market nearby. The beach was also within a 10 minutes. The staff is very helpful and kind. The check in and check out was very easy and smooth. As the apartment site write it, you should really bring some of your smaller baggages because the stairs are really steep and small :)

AustriaThe hosts put a lot of pressure on me by making sure I take the TAXI from the airport to the accommodation so I could be there within 35-40 minutes of landing and pick up the key by 19 o'clock. Since it was my first visit in Barcelona I did take the taxi and due to a heavy traffic I couldn't be dropped off directly at the accommodation place. I had to walk at least 15 minutes to reach the destination place and still had to pay a full price for the taxi which was 37 EUR. I was planning on taking an airport shuttle (bus) that takes about 30-40 minutes ride and costs only 6 EUR. The bus stop is about 15 minute walk from the accommodation. So taking a taxi didn't make any sense. The pressure the host put on me was unacceptable. While booking the accommodation I warned the host that my plane arrives later than their opening hours (15:30-18:00). I offered the host that my friend would come and pick up the key, this was not accepted. So, the pressure of reaching the accommodation within only 35-40 minutes of landing and taking only taxi was very high, not nice at all. This should not happen in the future.
Great location.

United StatesBe aware that you have to walk up many flights of narrow stairs to access rooms. There is no elevator as it is a historic building.
Great location. You are in the middle of one of Barcelona's greatest historic and lively neighborhoods. The apartment was small but cozy. Adequate for a comfortable stay. Close distance to many important areas so was able to mostly walk everywhere without having to use public transportation. However, subway station is a short walk away if needed. There are many shops and restaurants in the neighborhood worth visiting. You have to schedule arrival for check in, it helps if you speak Spanish to communicate.

NetherlandsThe housekeeper was nice at the beginning, but then she suddenly asked me to pay 150 euro in cash like a "deposit" and promised that it will be returned later, which sounds to me like a scam because i paid online through the booking.com service, so i refused to do this. Also I asked for another blanket, and she showed me it in the wardrobe, i placed the blanket in the duvet cover, and when we left the apartment, she texted me a million times where the blanket was and if i took it somewhere, which is totally crazy.... The apartment was clean and nice, but it's old enough. The balcony door handle was broken, the heater and hair dryer didn't work. The bed was very uncomfortable, so i had some back pain during the whole trip.
The apartment is in Gotic neighborhood, which is very close to a lot of attractions. Very close to the beach, there are a lot of nice restaurants around.

ChinaThe bathroom is too small, the stairs are relatively narrow and steep,so it is extremely easy to make a misstep. It is very difficult to climb the stairs on the fifth floor, especially when there is luggage
The landlord was very friendly, the service was attentive, the kitchen utensils were relatively complete, and the room was relatively clean

IsraelWhen we picked the keys, the owner didn't speak English at all, only Spanish. The place was very dirty with a lot of hair in the shower. (The water didn't come down because of it, the owner fixed it the next day). The stair room is tiny (And no elevator, so if you're 3/4 floor it's not easy) The AC barely works... Also, I wish there was tools to make food (there is stove top, but no tools at all so you have to bring your own) The furniture is too big for small apartment.
It's a full apartment... Without any troubles from the owner. It has a nice fridge and fine bad... not too bad for a couple. It's a nice location, pretty close to the beach and many supermarkets and coffee places. Overall the apartment look good and fun to stay in.

NetherlandsCommunication with the host was difficult since she didn't speak English. But everything worked out perfect eventually, google-translate helped us. Very nice lady after all. Stairway is very small and it's 65 steps to the 4th floor, so not very suitable if you have mobilty restrictions.
Location is excellent, nearby the beach and the centre of Barcelona. Nice cold airconditioning and everything you need for your stay.

United Kingdomdue to it being an old building, one must be prepared to climb narrow stairs and also deal with the noise outside. nearby was a bar and meeting spot and the bin men do their rounds in the middle of the night which was very loud. the shower was a bit annoying in that loads of water would leak out both sides and leave the bathroom drenched. it was a small space so was easy to fill up with water fast. bath mats weren’t super absorbent BUT there was a small balcony for drying. my last note is that my Spanish didn’t stretch as far to understand exactly why there were cups of cinnamon in the cupboards… cockroaches. one morning I found a huge one on my way to the bathroom. only had to deal with one luckily. the flat despite this was spotless!
Apartment was the perfect size for a couple and in a fantastic location. the beach was 15 minutes away and La Ramblas was 10. The cleaner was super friendly on arrival and very helpful and our check in with the owner was easy and fast (although was mostly in Spanish so be prepared). The air con also worked great.

NetherlandsOne minor thing was that on the windows there are blinds and it was difficult to put up and down because i think the string was broken. So everyday we had to somehow tie the blinds up to be able to go to the balcony.
The host was super easy going, very friendly and showed us all the necessary things. The room was amazing, had everything we wanted, little kitchen, bathroom and a small terrace ! Highly recommend this place.

RomaniaIt wasn’t easy to communicate with host, but it is an elder lady who was waiting for us so I don’t really mind it. The apartment is in an old building with a narrow stairway; If you are lucky you won’t end up on the 5th floor, like we did. (:
It was close to the main areas that we wanted to visit, so we only gad to use public transport for 3 days of our stay.
