Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SpainI really can't think of anything. Their credit card reader wasn't working when we arrived but they put everything on the bill and by the time we left it was working again.
The staff were friendly. The food and service were excellent. It was incredibly good value for money. It's a small hotel which is perfect for a stopover. Carparking is free. Bed was comfortable and there's a free bottle of Lanjaron provided.

United KingdomBreakfast wasn't really great, coffee & tostada. Providing some fruit would have been a good option. Our first night the noise was excessive until about 1:30am. But, in reality this was beyond the control of the hotel.
The hotel is ideally located in Galera a town with an amazing history and archaeology. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The municipal swimming pool was open, as a hotel client entry was free. The bar in the restaurant was very busy, the staff were very efficient, helpful and friendly. The hotel had a nice relaxed informal feel.

SpainAn all day function was taking place when we arrived, so the bar and restaurant were closed to us for the entire day and evening. This was disappointing, as it was raining, and we had to leave the hotel to find somewhere else to eat and drink. It would have been good to know this at the time of booking, and maybe we would have chosen another hotel.
Staff were very friendly and helpful, even though they were busy with a function. Breakfast was ok, but expensive for what we had. Hotel staff were good to let us have breakfast a little earlier than normal, as we had a meeting to attend, and didn't want to be late

United KingdomWe could have felt a little cheated had we specifically wanted tea and coffee making facilities in the room, bathrobes and a pool view as the pool view was non-existent from our room but as we were staying there for convenience, we certainly couldn't complain. I am not sure if it is Booking.com's fault for reporting these amenities or the hotel's fault but perhaps removing any mention of bathrobes, tea and coffee facilities and pool view rooms when booking would clear up the confusion.
We were visiting family in Castillejar and so staying in Galera was an ideal location. The swimming pool was in the process of being re-opened for the summer and we knew that it wouldn't be open while we were there but that was not a problem. Despite the reservation confirmation saying that the room had bathrobes and tea/coffee making facilities, it did not have either but again, this was not a problem and given that it is rated as 2 star, what can you expect? We would not hesitate to stay there again as the room was cleaned meticulously daily and Pedro and Nicky looked after us superbly at breakfast and in the bar.

United KingdomNot much although a lot of flies at times around the bar that proved irritating. No real problem though.
Good location near centre of Galera. We had a huge very comfortable bed too. The bar terrace is very good with great views and great service. The restaurant is also very good. A very good and very Spanish hotel in a beautiful town full of character.

United KingdomIt was unusually hot on the April/May week we were there and the pool was not yet open. Luckily discovering the lovely natural spring pool on the road to Orce saved us from overheating.
Breakfast was good. Food in the restaurant was also good. We are vegetarians and the staff kindly prepared food without meat as a lot of spanish food is fairly meat orientated. Staff were lovely and helpful, if a bit rushed on occasion due to the busy restaurant. The staff seemed to do everything in both the hotel and restaurant, multi tasking!! Bed was very comfortable. Plenty of hot water for showers/baths. Clean. Nice balcony with table and chairs.
