Being a spa I was looking forward to a swim on arrival after a long drive from the Med. Unfortunately informed had to pre book so missed out on this.

Beautifully tranquil setting with a great restaurant. Lovely sounds of goat bells from the hillside. Food was tasty and well presented.

Because it is not a cheap place to stay I am going to nit-pick. The seat cover of the bidet could not be put back to stay up because it was too close to the radiator, so the seat rests against your back while using the bidet. We used the very small bottle of bath salts the first night but was not replaced for our second night. Likewise I drank a can of orange flavoured water from the mini bar the first day, that was not replaced for the second night. There was not a substantial shelf in the bathroom to take all the creams and potions a lady likes to bring on holiday, my partner was not happy about that. In the restaurant the food varied from the exceptional to passable. My partner told me that there was excessive oil placed on the vegetables on both nights. For me the entrecote steak I had was cooked perfectly, but tough and flavourless. The desserts looked pretty but for me lacked a sophistication of textures and flavours.

Excellent sized room (Royal Suite) with a large jacuzzi, very comfortable bed and excellent air conditioning. Lovely personal service by the staff. Good location for hiking or for visiting Bilbao and the surroundings. Excellent buffet breakfast. Quiet and relaxing rural location with good views of the mountains. Some dishes in the restaurant were exceptional in quality. The foie gras mi-cuit and the Iberian pork were just that as was the fish cookery.

The food wasn't great. The breakfast was adequate. We had dinner once in our 5 night stay and were disappointed. The quality was good but the main courses came with no vegetables or salad. A steak was literally just a steak on its own.

The location is fabulous nestled in the mountains. The views were amazing. A really relaxing place to stay. Very quiet and isolated which suited us.

The staff were super helpful. The dinners were delicious - I ate there for both my nights but would gladly have gone back again. The hotel was in a beautiful and quiet spot with amazing views of the mountains and countryside.

Everything was perfect!

It was one of the best places I’ve ever been! The style of the building is very interesting: traditional style mixed with Indonesian elements of decor. Everything made with love! The owners of the hotel is very nice couple was greeting us with a big warm. The room was clean and cozy. The restaurant offers you gourmet cuisine. The hotel has Spa and you can order massages or face treatments. The air is so fresh around so I couldn't stop enjoying breathing! The calm and silence all around!

Use of the spa facilities is 25e per person for an hour, this has to be pre booked. The spa looked to be quite small and we did not use it as we felt it is not value for money. While all the food and drinks were had were excellent, it is quite a bit more expensive than what you would expect in the region.

Very comfortable room with large bathroom, everything was spotlessly clean. Staff were professional and attentive. The location is very rural and totally peaceful. The only noises we heard were the birds and the bells from a heard of cows grazing in the field below the hotel. Views are absolutely spectacular. We ate lunch and dinner and the food was excellent. The beers and wine we had were also very good. Free typical continental style buffet breakfast was good.

We loved the location and the rooms with a terrace and the view of the mountains. We did not have the time to use the spa facilities. We were travelling with our dog and the area is perfect to take walks.

What an extraoridary place to stay! If in need for rest, walks, silence and enjoy a great restaurant, wines, spa and kind family run hotel with unique identity look no further. Great traditional Basque building with indonesian touches in the interior (yes it does work). This a wonderful place with the most kind family running it. The food is superb and of great value (4 course menu 34 euro). Great walks in the forest start just outside the hotel. No background noise; just a great place 45 min from Bilbao. This palace should have 4/5* not sure why only 3 are allocated.
