How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Mattress too hard
We left early too early for breakfast the only thing I could say was the mattress was non-existent it was better to sleep on the floor the mattress was that hard

No faults for me.
I was in the family room which was a really good size it was very clean though out. Got up in the morning after a good night sleep and had a very nice full English breakfast. Met both hosts when I was there who made me very welcome. Would stay again no problem.

Fantastically clean room. It was a massive room and bathroom. Diane and Tye were really helpful and friendly. Breakfast was yummy and beautifully cooked. Highly recommend

There wasn’t anything I didn’t like
The rooms were very tidy with everything you needed from towels to tea coffee and water. The breakfast was freshly cooked every morning and you had a choice of tea or coffee, yoghurts, cereal and fruit then Tye would come and take your cooked breakfast order nothing was to much for either Tye or Diane. We were asked if we needed anything in our rooms at breakfast and anything you needed Tye would get for you and leave it on the table outside they never came in your room unless you asked them to change the bedding or towels. They even went out of there way to find me a baby gate to put on the door so that my dog couldn’t get out. Would definitely go back again. The B&B was in a little village and was close to Sandwich, Dover, Deal, Folkestone and many more places that Tye gave us some excellent places to visit.

Just a minor thing to improve: the room had no air conditioning and it was a bit warmer than we wanted, we couldn´t open the windows because they were not "cat proof". There was a fan that was a bit noisy, but nothing terrible.
The personnel was excellent, very detailed centered and attentive. We felt very welcomed with our cat and dog. The room was clean, tidy and of good taste decorated. It looks exactly like in the pictures. The place is located in a very cute town, near to the sea, worth visiting. Free park in the street and the neighborhood was quiet, with restaurants nearby, we recommend St Crispin Inn for lunch. You definitely should visit Canterbury if you have time. Breakfast 10/10, incredible value for money.

Our last night in UK after 2 weeks of road trip in Scotland and South of England. This bedroom was large enough for 4 persons and the beds were very comfortable. The breakfast was very good and it was a pleasure to talk with Tye during the preparation of the breakfast. We recommend this B&B, since it's very close to Dover or Folkestone.

My husband found the firm bed more comfortable than I did.
Tye, the owner, was very friendly and was great with our 11 year old. The rooms were a good size, comfortable and had everything needed. They were able to provide gluten free options for me at breakfast time. we would definitely stay again if in the area.

Nothing was perfect
Very pleasant quiet village .Tye and Diane were great hosts and nothing was too much . Very highly recommended. Lovely breakfast and wonderful hospitality.

Nothing--no complaints at all!
Comfortable room, quiet, great breakfast. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Location was a lovely little village that was a perfect base for us to visit both Dover (20 min south) and Ramsgate/Broadstairs (20 min north) during our short trip.
