How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Great location! So close to everything you need, but also lovely and quiet. The flat had everything we needed and the rooms are very cosy and clean. It was a nice touch having washing up liquid and tea towels provided. Pain free check in and out, and always a parking space close by with parking permit provided We would 100% recommend and will be back.

Great location and easy to park. Walking distance to the sea front. Plenty of food places around if you didn’t want to cook. Clean and tidy and had everything we needed.

The listing says "Internet: No internet access available." but we found there is wifi available.
The rooms were spacious and had everything we needed. The coastliner bus stops outside a little way up the road.

Nothing I didn't like. The only thing missing was a chopping board. Literally everything else was there, but was mindful not wanting to mark the surfaces with a sharp knife when preparing food. Apart from that, perfection.
The rooms were spacious, comfortable, had everything we needed. My son very much misses the place already. Great location. Local shops allowed for easy shopping.

Nothing we didn't like at all, the weather just made it a little cold and 2 of the heaters weren't working so struggled to heat it up near the bathroom and the far bedroom. But apart from that all positive. Thank you
Really enjoyed our stay, the flat had everything we needed and there was plenty of space. The host was very welcoming and accommodating. Very comfortable and was just a short walk to the main centre.

Maybe needs a little maintenance with facilities the iron board was broken and the hair dryer smoked up which is a hazard! The wifi wasn’t very good was hard to use laptop when I’m a remote worker
Very nice property in a great area central to everything- lots of room and space! My 90 year old Nan loved it and felt comfortable! The man was very nice and gave us free fruit! It was very clean and quiet

Great stay with our grandson . Peasholme park was at the bottom of the road which is a beautiful park with naval battles on the lake 3 times a week and a short walk to north beach . The Town centre is a 5 min drive with easy access to south beach both beaches are sandy and are kept very clean. We took a boat ride on the pirate ship around the bay and seen dolphins .

The location seemed to be a bit of a dead zone for mobile phone signal.
Location was great- 10 min walk to beach, close to town, couple of good restaurants nearby. Outside yard area was nice to have. Parking always tricky in Scarborough but there were lots of options nearby,

Just small things like you can see through the toilet/shower door so I think a curtain of or something could be hung and perhaps a few mor kitchen items.
It was clean and comfortable and close to the park and beach. The owner lives at the property so if there were any issues they could be dealt with easily.
