How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

It was peaceful and the host ensured everything was perfect. I had advised when making the booking that I had allergies to fragrances and the host made sure to wash the linen in a fragrance free product.

Tony is a great host, very friendly and welcoming. He gave us a lot of information and always cared for our well-being. The cabin is extremely cosy and you have a beautiful view from the eating area. You can watch the sheep and birds right in front of the house. Tony has two dogs and a cat and they are super cute and love to cuddle! We would always come back!

Very peaceful, beautiful location. The cabin was wonderfully set up with everything you could possibly need for a short stay. Lots of little extras in the room including lots of charging points, which is always very useful. Very comfortable and clean and the owner was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was exceptional - and the two lovely dogs a bonus. Very impressed.

Nothing-everything was perfect!
We absolutely loved our first night in Scotland in here. It was the perfect start to our vacation. The host is very welcoming, hospitable, and friendly. We loved our tiny private cabin and we had a great night's sleep. It is set on a beautiful piece of property with views of sheep and the countryside. It is very peaceful and quiet. We loved the use of the kitchen to make our dinner and the cabin itself was very cozy and relaxing. We did not mind that the bathroom was inside the main house which was only a few steps away. We can highly recommend staying here and it is a great place for a night or more if traveling from Edinburg and driving to Glencoe or stay longer and visit the surrounding areas like Stirling and Callander. Tony is a wonderful host and very responsive and goes above and beyond to make your stay special and memorable. He offers a delicious breakfast to start your day and we enjoyed chatting with him and hope to be back again one day soon.

Everything about the location and Tony's concept and approach is outstandingly perfect. You feel like you arrive as a stranger and leave as a friend. The cabin is both modern and so cozy, frankly I didn't want to leave it. The cabin has everything to make yourself comfortable. Very good breakfast with vegetarian options for a good start in the day to explore the stunning area of the Trossachs and Stirling city. I'll definitely be back! Thank you Tony, Hamish and Doris for this unforgettable experience and your hospitality.

We stayed in the room with en suite bathroom. It is a small but comfy upstairs room. It was nice and clean. You can use the kitchen too, which was great to prepeare some food for us. The location is also nice, surrounded by sheeps and meadows. Tony our host was also very friendly and helpful.

Tony is very welcoming, we felt at home straight away. The bed was good and comfy, we slept very well. The location is perfect to explore and enjoy the Scottish sceneries. The breakfast was very good.

Shower/ toilet in the main house rather than the barn - although just a very short distance away. Not an issue for us, but some may perhaps not like this
The host, Andy, was incredibly hospitable and helpful. The house and barn were beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. Also, great location and would undoubtedly have a really great view on a clear day
