How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The room I chose was a little small but it was fine for me. The location into Burford is good but you are on a busy roundabout, however the room had earplugs which was a nice touch.
The rooms were lovely with nice decor, really comfy beds, big bathroom and good shower. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the breakfast was big, varied and delicious!

The room and bathroom were small. The room needed a good cleaning!
It is a nice setting, pretty pub style. The room was cozy and comfortable. Both dinner and breakfast were very good.

Dogs allowed in bar. We saw a dog sitting on the cushioned seats, so we won’t be going back.

I have stayed here on several occasions over the last year or so. The quality of the food was not up to their usual standard which was disappointing.

Small issue, poached eggs weren't runny. But everything else was great
The location is on a busy roundabout and our room was close to the road so we heard the traffic. Next time I would choose another room. But for exploring the cotswolds it was great

All the staff were friendly and helpful and catered for all our needs. The Hotel is in a perfect position for walking into Burford and parking at the hotel was a bonus.
Room was very comfortable and everything we needed was well catered for. The Bathroom was modern and shower was great. Our only criticism would be the noise of the traffic waking us up at 5am each morning but that wouldn’t stop me from booking this hotel again in the future.

Menu a bit limited. Some road traffic noise through the night
Tasty well prepared food. Historic building. Free parking. Nicely presented bedroom and excellent walk in shower. Good base for a Cotswolds trip. Great selection of Butcombe ales. Friendly staff.

Dinner and breakfast at the hotel were moderate. The hotel was not far from town but it seemed a steep walk.
Large parking spaces. The rooms are comfortable. We had a good sleep even though it’s on the main road.

The room cleanliness can be improved . There was mold under the bath plastic mat that was folded and hadn't been used. Also use of plastic artificial plants is not hygienic and tasteful.
Location is very good and also room size. Staff were very pleasant.

Room facing A40 a bit noisy with HGVs passing throughout the night. As earplugs were provided, the management appears to be aware of this.

Breakfast was a disaster. Waited 30 minutes to get my poached eggs and was offered nothing else except a small cup of coffee when I sat down. Menu said pastries/toast, but these were not offered and no where obvious to help yourself. Ran out of time to finish my meal as meetings booked, so felt extremely disappointed after such a lovely evening the night before :(
Beautifully presented rooms and communal areas. The barman/waiter/check-in clerk was warm and welcoming and service at dinner impeccable. Food was delicious too.

Only really that the road at the front of the hotel where the bedroom was situated was quite noisy. If I stay again I'd probably request a room at the back of the hotel if that's possible. However, it did not impact a good nights' sleep.
Excellent food and drinks, lovely relaxed atmosphere. Staff were helpful, well trained and friendly. The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious.

Due to our room being on the ground floor adjacent to the delivery/kitchen area, it did get a bit noisy from 06:30am and the room was very warm despite having the radiators off.
Cozy bedrooms, clean and high quality bathrooms. Great quality of in-room amenities that helped make it a unique stay. Welcoming bar and restaurant areas, good selection of drinks and fantastic quality food. Friendly and helpful staff on check-in and in the restaurant.

Car park very full difficult to get a space. Restaurant very dark but food OK.
Booked last minute on a whim, good choice. Lovely room and bathroom. Quirky decor but loved it.
