Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomEn-suite bathroom was not at all bad, but its old origins showed so it felt less luxurious than the room, though perfectly adequate. The English breakfast part of breakfast was a bit basic, especially as the vegetarian option was to just take out the sausages. But with good yoghurt and fruit (as well as some breakfast cereals), I did not go hungry!
Room was very comfortable and nicely, rather plushly, decorated. The host was very friendly, offering us coffee/tea when we arrived and happily advised on the local area, as we sat chatting in the nice sitting room. The location is very convenient for the train station, and is just a few minutes walk from Torre Abbey, which was perfect

United KingdomThere was nothing major we didn't like. A niggle if the hotel is full could be the parking - there are 4 spaces marked out, but I'd say only 3 in reality due to the tight turning circle, which with 7 rooms could be tricky. However, on-street parking is plentiful. Apart from that, everything was as we hoped it would be.
A lovely hotel in an excellent location, within easy walking distance of Torquay seafront and gardens. Lots of pubs and restaurants withing easy walking distance too. The room was small but roomy enough to be comfortable, immaculately clean and had nice thoughtful touches like fresh bottle of water, chocolate bars with the tea and coffee making stuff, nice shower gel and handwash. It was light and airy, and very pleasant to be in. We were at the front of the hotel, with a lovely view over the cricket ground. Breakfast was lovely, nothing was too much trouble. Starting with yogurt, honey and fresh fruit, then a range of cereal choices finishing with something cooked - choice examples included full English (sausage, bacon, eggs, beans, mushrooms), scrambled eggs and mushrooms, avocado, toast. Host Jessie was very very welcoming, she even sat with us on arrival for a cuppa in the living room after our long drive down. On our last day, we left before breakfast, so Jessie packed us up a travel bag of fresh fruit and chocolate bars! All in all, a really lovely stay.

United KingdomNot much; but if I'm searching for faults - the water pressure in my shower was a bit low - it was adequate for my two night stay, but may have become irritating over a longer period.
Great breakfast - yoghurt & fruit, cereal, full english and more if you wanted; also breakfast was served rather than a buffet which was a pleasant surprise. Jessie was a great host and very amenable to change the menu to suit her guests. Also a really good location - the Abbey is a few minutes walk, the seafront a couple of minutes more; and (as I decided to take the train this time) Torquay station was 6 or 7 minutes walking distance.

United KingdomBreakfast served between 8 and 9, which is a little early for us personally, and you needed to book your time slot in advance. Also need to decide on your breakfast choices in advance (the day before). Not a problem for some but I don't know what I will fancy to eat until the day. The location turned out to be quite a long walk into Torquay town centre, especially as we took the wrong route the first time and walked up a very steep hill rather than staying on the front and following the bay!
The house is lovely, the room (Green Room on ground floor) beautifully decorated and very comfortable and quiet most of the time. Being just inside the front door meant we did hear some early morning noise when other guests were leaving but it wasn't much of a problem. The bathroom is such a classic design - black and white tiled floor and traditional but totally up-to-date facilities - the best of both worlds. Great shower too! The fresh fruit and yoghurt for breakfast was delicious.

United KingdomWe needed to pre book breakfast and the decor needed updating
Jessie was a very enthusiastic hostess and very friendly the breakfast (although pre booked) was plentiful and well cooked . Our room had a very pleasant view over the cricket pitch although it was quite small , just a bedroom really , however the bed was very comfortable, the walk to town/harbour was a good 15 - 20 minute , it was very enjoyable through Torre Abbey, if we had our timings right there is a land train from the Abbey that takes you to the harbour (we never did 😀) but the walk is fine .
