The hotel has coach parties, so timing for breakfast to miss sudden surge of numbers can be a matter of luck, but is what it is no coach parties no hotel.

Great location and very friendly staff. Would definitely use this hotel again.

The check out receptionist didn’t even ask how our stay was. Breakfast was a disaster. We arrived at 8:45 to find most things finished and the chef was not going to replenish. Lowest quality of food is seen in a hotel in agars. I felt sorry for the service staff as they looked lost. Rooms carpets really need a clean as they are filthy and left the room a very ‘old person’ type musky smell. Would be good if beds were made a with a bit more effort as they didn’t even look tucked in - although we knew they were freshly made.

Loved the friendly welcome from receptionist Laura - and the large car park. The hotel was grand. Bar staff were also great. Rooms nice and big.

The hotel is very tired and could do with a clean and refurbished our remote for our TV the volume would not work we ask about five times at reception about the problem as we had no sound but nothing was done which I thought was poor service the bar staff where excellent but the waiting where to be desired not very professional

The area that the hotel is situated is excellent for sight seeing an hill walking there is alot of things an places to visit

There was no information on the room about the hotel, dining times or even the number to call for reception. We had a dubious stain on one of the towels and so had to walk 3 flights of stairs down to reception to get it replaced. We ended up going to a different hotel for dinner because the offering in the bar was very limited and not appealing. (Still unsure if the hotel had actual evening dining) This was not off season but it felt it. At one of the most expensive hotels on our trip it definitely didn't feel worth paying more for.

The room was large and comfortable, there was also a bath as well as a shower which was nice. Breakfast was good.

Bar was a little limited on some drinks we liked. Room was only serviced on the last 2 days of the holiday. Bread used for toast was very thin sliced and seemed cheap. Heard quite a few complaining about this.

Staff were excellent. All seem to work a lot of shifts and have to deal with numerous coach parties which can’t be easy. Large car park at rear which was tarmac, making it ideal for our motorcycles. Great base for exploring the highlands and the Cairngorms

Our room was up two flights of stairs and no lift, the chairs for breakfast and meal time was very weight restrictive, as a plus size girl they was not accessible at all, I feel that chairs without structured sides would be more appropriate to enable choice

The room was lovely and spacious and very comfortable bed

Paint peeling off the walls in the bathroom. Kitchen staff swearing very loudly. Very unprofessional. Wasn’t told that we had to go through to the bar and order drinks if we wanted while sitting down in the restaurant.

Locations perfect. Breakfast was ok. Receptionist very kind, welcoming and helpful.

Room was overly hot & ventilation from window inadequate leading to a poor nights' sleep.

Location & price room price good. Breakfast was good & plentiful, 4 course evening meal was good value @ £25. Gillies Bar served a good pint & had a wide selection of malts.

It does need some upkeep. Carpet was quite stained and some areas could do with fresh paint. Our mattress had a large hollow on one side as if the foam had disintegrated.

It was a beautiful grand old hotel and easy to imagine how it was in its heyday. Our room was a good size and we loved the traditional furniture. Staff were very pleasant. Easy parking. Lovely to have windows that were slightly open so there was fresh air.

No food options after 8pm, there was a coach trip to an internal event so it was quite noisy. Getting in for breakfast was a nightmare with queues due to coach trip and then it was a buffet but not even self serve so I got 1 egg and waited ages for a coffee which wasn't worth drinking.

Handy location just off the A9, room was spacious, bar had plenty of nice whisky to choose from. Plenty of car parking. Staff on reception were very friendly and super helpful.

Our room has weird layouts with the sockets in odd places. We had to plug the water cooker on the floor. The way to our building is through a hall. So when there's an event in the hall, we passed by awkwardly. The bathroom is nice but doesn't have hooks/hangers.

We looked for a trip break but couldn't find one with reasonable price on that day. Only Duke of Gordon has it.

If you stay above the 2nd floor, there is no elevator. This makes it difficult to get luggage to your room if you have health or mobility issues

It had a very welcoming ambience with friendly staff and dining options and evening entertainment 😊
