Everything. Great location. Good parking. Excellent rooms. Attentive and friendly staff. Nice bar and superb restaurant with great views over the River Teme which was running very fast and high due to recent rain. Food is fantastic and I would say that the black pudding and smoked haddock scotch egg was one of the best starters I have had the good fortune to eat in my whole life.

Another guest set off the fire alarm with the steam from the shower in the morning. I don’t blame the property at all, but seems good to mention as a warning to avoid leaving the bathroom door open when taking a hot shower. The food at the restaurant was really nice but as a vegetarian I would have struggled to eat multiple dinners there in a row. The castle in Ludlow has limited opening times in the off season so plan ahead.

The property felt very upscale, especially at winter off season prices. The breakfast was very nice. The bowls that were available to eat cereal or yogurt out of were very fun and quirky and we were able to find them for sale at the nearby home and garden store just across the river as a keepsake from our lovely stay. The pub itself was very cosy feeling and I would suggest planning to have a meal there in addition to the breakfast. The food in general was very rich. I really loved the fact that the property is right on the river and had nice views from our room and the dining room. There were also great woodland walks you could do starting right at the property. Some of the rooms are below the pub right on the river and the others are above.

I wasn't keen on the fake sheep skins on the bed they were unnecessary and I doubt they are fresh and clean for every guest. I also wasn't keen on the infused perfume smell in the public areas as I have a perfume intolerance. Not a lot of storage space if you were there for more than a couple of nights.

Beautiful room, lots of little touches in the bathroom and bedroom. Towels very white and fluffy. The nespresso machine was an excellent addition. Breakfast was excellent, beautifully cooked and top notch quality.

We were upgraded on arrival which was a lovely surprise. The room was beautiful and facilities brilliant. Added bonus of a hot tub (great even in January!). Lovely breakfast and superb dinner with great views over the river. Would not hesitate to stay again.
