The Inn seemed to be short-staffed, but this is almost certainly down to the general current difficulty in finding staff in the hospitality industry. Also, our room was a bit 'tired', but greatly suffered from strong background noise which we think was from the boiler or air-conditing room, but not sure. Mercifully, it shut down mid-evening, so we were able to sleep!

Staff were welcoming, helpful, with a wonderful attitude in providing as good a service as possible, and full of smiles and banter, despite clearly working flat-out. Dinner in the restuarant and breakfast were good.

Long black hairs found in the wash hand basin on arrival. Be aware, if staying on a Saturday, there is live music in the bar, below the bedrooms which will keep you awake until midnight

    Great, central location in Balloch

They were having problems with the boiler, hence hot water fell short to barely Luke warm. Shower was hot though.

Brilliant location. Room was clean and the beds were comfortable, you can expect a good sleep. Food was good. Atmosphere also good. Staff really pleasant and professional.

A better welcome from the breakfast staff, was muttering about us arriving at 9.30 am

We were hurried, didn’t have cooked breakfast. Waitress was in too much of a hurry to clear up

accommodation area including hallway - showing its age - old carpet and smelt of kitchen from below our room - warm ++ from afternoon sun - window was stuck shut but staff were able to open it to allow some fresh air bathroom - more recently renovated

location central staff on arrival - not overly friendly - clearly busy running the bar area as well restaurant staff very friendly and efficient food - evening meal and breakfast excellent

Breakfast was fantastic with varieties of cooked choices. Well, it's a restaurant below the inn, hence restaurant standard!

Biggest disappointment was real ales were not available ( we choose pubs with real ales, using reviews as good ales are important to us on holiday, ) so after a long days travelling this was disappointing .

Lovely large room. Friendly helpful staff. Food reasonable. Breakfast pretty good..Fabulous setting with some lovely walks by the Loch

Sadly it wasn't very sound proof. Everytime someone passed the room door we had lots of noise and creaking sounds. Thought someone was trying to enter our room first time we heard it. They had live music on Friday which was great but if you wanted to sleep it would not have been great as it was rather loud in the room.

The location was perfect. The room was very comfortable. Espresso machine was a nice touch. The bathroom is enormous.

We had booked and paid for breakfast only to be told afterwards that hotel didn’t serve breakfast until 8am. We (like others in the hotel) were attending the Kiltwalk and had to leave before 8. Hotel staff made no effort whatsoever to provide even toast and tea before we left. Neither was there an offer to discuss the fact we had paid for breakfast. The Glasgow Kiltwalk is an annual event, so they should have been prepared to offer some form of breakfast.

Traditional look from outside was attractive. The rooms were good and comfortable. The location was good.

The breakfast start time , just for this one day , should have been earlier. As the bus that transfers walkers to the start at Glasgow Green or Cumbernauld leaves at 0815 prompt and it’s a 10 minute walk from the Hotel. Breakfast needs to be from 6am and food geared towards a walkers diet. Not a lot to ask for as this could be arranged at the time you book the hotel.

The atmosphere was brilliant. “ All “ of the staff, and there were many this Kiltwalk w/e we’re really friendly. Especially our slim tall chap ( sorry memory fade ) who was so welcoming and daft , and the wee Lass ( server ) who was exceptional. Well done all of you, as after my 14 mile walk I was allowed to use a guest room to shower and change clothes in. Thanks house - keeping 🫂. There is no reason that we wouldn’t go back there next year to do the 23 mile and my partner ( Lui ) do the 3 mile. See you next year folks. PS: the beer garden holds 250 revellers and it was rammed !!!.
