How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

No major grocery store is in vicinity, so if you are going better get all required stuffs from nearby towns which is more than 10km
Location is very scenic and far from crowded towns. Kitchen was very well equipped. Small grocery store and pub in the vicinity.

Shower in the Dromod room was horrible; the shower head would not stay up, and the hot water wasnt sufficient for two showers.
Great people, comfortable and airy. Nice common areas and kitchen. Community ownership made for a nice overall vibe.

It’s quite far from the city but great great location.
It’s a stunning stay with gorgeous location, very friendly and kind staff. There’s a local pub right next to hostel which was great craic. The kitchen is open even at night and walking distance to the supermarket. There was hot water for shower which is very real these days to get in hostels. Beds are amazing too.

Located in the middle of Kerry it is perfect for daytrips into the ring of kerry. By car the next town is 15 minutes away, the people around are so kind and helpful. Sometimes the bar next to the Hostel is open so you can even enjoy a guiness or two with your traveller friends!

You need a car! There is only one bus that goes twice a week (Mon and Wed) and if it's a bank holiday, it doesn't operate. But that's why it's so quiet and calm, so not really a downside rather than a thing to keep in mind.
Extremely quiet and comfortable. That is, if there are few people in the hostel. If people are talking downstairs or on the staircase, it gets a bit loud, but that doesn't last usually. I had the best sleep in Dromid hostel on St Patrick's Day. The idea was to escape the loudness of the city and it worked absolutely gorgeous. I had a private room (one of four from what I gather) which was right above the kitchen overlooking the river. The kitchen was very handy, very spacious with lots of appliances, dishes and nice wooden tables to eat. There's a pub and a store nearby where you can eat and get groceries, but I didn't, so can't tell anything about them. There are mountains and lakes around. I found a trail on an app that leads to Waterville. It took me about 40min walking to get to the beginning of the trail itself. There must be just regular paths people use that are closer and lead to lakes nearby but I didn't explore them.

The hostel gave me the best impressions: calm, clean, cozy, there is everything you need in the kitchen for cooking (and you have to cook yourself, because there are no cafes or restaurants nearby). There are beautiful mountain views. If you like solitude and silence, you can stay here for several days. There are only sheep around..)

Although there was a lot of kitchen utensils, a smaller and newer frying pan was missing.
Very clean, well attended, very friendly staff, very well located for visiting the Ring of Kerry.

Location is a bit out of the way, but not a big deal with a car. Also the noise cancellation is not great
