How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

This was out of the Property's control but there were road works early one morning 🤷♂️

Nothing to complain about.
The staff was extremly nice. It was unusually cold and they brought a heater to the room and they also offerred to keep our luggage in the reception area until later after check out.

Nothing really
Very helpful staff, clean and comfortable room. Half way up between lower town and upper town so never too much of a climb for either. Very near Santa Caterina, a very nice neighbourhood with little cafes, bars and restaurants as well as independent shops.

Parking is limited outside of the hotel to residence only, so you will get a parking ticket if you park here! There are roads away from the hotel to park, or pay & display car parks at the bottom of the street. 12 Euro for 24 hour parking, which we didn't think was too bad!
Room was great, and very spacious, just as pictures show! Very clean everywhere in the hotel Staff were very helpful and have gone out of their way to help even after we left! I left my necklace in the room and didn't realise until we were at the airport, by which point it was too late, but they are going out of their way to post back to me in England! Very grateful!!

The WiFi was not reachable from our room, we were in the penthouse and not able to connect wifi since the signal was not available for that part

The staff were amazing, the location is great! Really close to the old town. The room is very spacious, really nice decoration. Breakfast is top level, I felt really welcomed by the hosts. I forgot my AirPods on the day of checkout, got in touch with them and they not only found them but also kept it safe so i could get it back after a few days. Really nice service!

Academia Residence is located in centre of city, near funiculare station. very clean and cosy place. we used their transfer service to go airport at 4 AM. Taxi was there at time.

No heat in late October. Some things seemed skimpy, like little soap packets in shower. Breakfast was not good and not in a pleasantly thought out space up to the rest of the place. Poor and cheap food. Most people came in and looked and left. Needs work on menu and quality.
Very good staff on the week end. Room was spacious, very clean and good sized. Needed some changes like some shelves in bathroom for toiletries. No heat in room and cold at night as weather cooled. But very good value for a large city.

the hotel location is near bars, for us wasn’t a problem, we slept very well with windows open, but if you have sleep issues and you need quiet for sleeping… it can be a problem for you :)
The room was big and comfy! They have self check-in. 5 minutes from the hotel you have privat parking or free parking spots!

Location turned out very convenient, close to the bus stop from the airport (10 min walk) and the train station (20 min walk) where we took trains for Milan and Como, staff was super friendly gave us a map and explained very well how to get around and what is best to be seen.

Everything, this was a terrific find in Bergamo. The staff are amazing, location is terrific. It's close to the train station, bus stops and the City Alta. All that and its set in a fabulous bohemian location.

Very friendly and helpful Staff, nice accomondation, the room was very clean and the bed comfy. Close to upper Old Town, 10 mins walking. 5mins walking from the residence is a bus stop straight to the airport.

There was nothing like that.
An old apartment house, converted into a small hotel with great effort and expense, propably. The interiors are charming. Architecture students should be shown around the hotel and shown how to design interiors minimalistically for maximum aesthetic impact. The commitment and enthusiasm of the young people who run the hotel are highly respected. Purely. I read that some guests complained about street noise. I can't confirm, but maybe we got a room on the better side. The breakfast could be better, but overall it's Italian standard. The location is excellent. Halfway between the upper and lower towns. So this is the perfect place to explore Bergamo (there really is something to see here; Bergamo is very interesting and worth spending some time there)
