How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Our room had a window small window to the back that when you opened it at night you had really strong smell from restaurants on the back side. And it was quite a dark room. However, you could just turn the AC.

Toilet would randomly run all the time. Lots of sketchy people outside train station, would not have felt safe leaving hotel at night if I wasn't with my husband. About a 20 minute walk to the safer, more touristy part of town. Overall, Naples was the most unsafe town we visited. However, if you are mindful and keep your head on a swivel, you'll be fine.
Super close to train station, metro station, and pick up spot for tours. Room spacious, we had a private balcony. Coffee machine in the room which was a plus.

It is a noisy area with street traffic and much honking starting up early in the morning, 6a.m. Over night it did quieten down.
The location was very handy to the main train station and the airport bus. Some good restaurants nearby on Piazza Garibaldi.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Would recommend paying for the breakfast as great choice and by comparison to nearby cafes it is good value for money. Perfectly situated for trains to Sorrento, Pompei and Vesuvius.

It is in Naples. Would not visit Naples again. Have visited Riposto, Sicily, Rome, Pisa, Naples and Athens this year, and Naples is the only place I felt unsafe.

There is no shower handle. The corridors are like a maze, you can hear everything from the room next door!

The strip in front of the hotel is nice with a few restaurants. However, the location outside of this strip is sketchy. The park has a lot of homeless people along with a lot of drug use. I didn’t go out in the evening because of this.
The property was clean, close to the train station, around a 5 minute walk. Reception was nice, very helpful.

The neighbourhood is not safe at night. The rooms are very small and unfortunately our air conditioning did not really work very well.
We landed quite late and were greeted very warmly at the property, which is kept locked at night. The neighbourhood is not safe at that time and the gentleman on reception ensured we were aware of this and it felt safe that the property was guarded overnight in this way. The location is very central and convenient for the airport as it’s only about 15 mins on the Alibus from the airport. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. Bathroom has all necessary amenities for a quick overnight stay. There is a safe in the room and we had a balcony in our room which was a nice bonus. We had a coffee machine in our room which meant we could have a coffee in bed when we woke up.

The front desk staff were at the heart of our positive stay, helping us with travel questions and making sure we were comfortable. The breakfast room crew were very nice, gave me a sense that they enjoy their job and wanted to make sure my stay was nice. I would stay here again, not a long taxi ride from the airport, next to the train that we needed. Again, the staff are outstanding.
