Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwitzerlandThe Check in was really unconfortable. I need it to do the check in in the other hotel, 2min away walking, which it wouldn't be bad, but the receptionist didn't speak English at all. Problem was also that he couldn't explain to me what was the numbers that he give me. I thought it is the address, but it was the CODE that he gave to me, to unlock the doors. But on the end all was good and we spend the night ok. Don't leave the car outside. It seemed really dangerously, because of the people who were there standing and checking the people who walked by...
It is by the train station, which i find it super. For all if you are here with a train or a bus. Breakfast was ok and the guy who was serving the breakfast was speaking also a bit english. It was a clean place. It is a great underground garage for cars just aroud the corner by train station and it is very safe.

United KingdomJust the location; while it is good to be near the station many people congregate in the square outside and it could be noisy, especially (sine air conditioning not permitted by local commune at that time of year) as we had to keep the window open.
The room was big, very secure and the staff were very helpful and pleasant. It is very good for the station and also for the historic part of town and the Metro.

DenmarkHard to find out how to get into the building at first. Called the host and he just said "okay" and hung up. Thankfully, it was to send someone down to help me, but he didn't say anything about that. We spent a good five minutes confused. Despite this, everyone was so nice and I'm tossing this incident up to the language barrier.
A great place if you, like us, do not have high expectations for cleanliness. Not that it was dirty, but it wasn't high-end. Staff was great and the facilities were amazing for the price we paid.

IsraelWhen we got to the place we didn’t know how to get in. We tried calling the owner but he wasn’t available and we were there for an hour. If it weren’t for the nice guests who were there we wouldn’t be able to get in although we already paid full price. The place was nice but not very clean and it’s very noisy. I wouldn’t recommend
The place looked nice and it had all the basic things we needed

AustriaNoise isolation of the rooms was completely missing, I had no problems hearing the other visitors talking in their own rooms. Light was coming through under the doors as well. The breakfast was a little dissapointing, because the selection was very small. Furthermore the breakfast started at 07:30 and because of my work in italy it wasn't really possible for me to eat the breakfast that late.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room got cleaned daily.

We didn't stay there in the end. We drove to where the car nav said the hotel was and only found a bus station in a very seedy looking area. Looking on the phones we found a B&B La Terrazza at Lago d'Isao 20 kms away. We drove there but it was not the place. We called the hotel and were just given instructions to check in at a different hotel. On our way there, we decided to give it a miss. We instead found a very nice place (B&B Corte Sant'Angelo in Passirano), so we stayed there and wrote off the money we had paid.

NetherlandsI can hardly describe how strange this hotel is. It's like a wh*rehouse met the Ritz and made a dirty baby. Its insanely warm inside, way way way too much (I'm writing this review while it's still cold outside) we slept with the balcony door open and even then it was too hot. The bathroom needs decalcifying on every tab and the showerhead. And in general, it may need a full renovation. The bed...well sometimes you just have gotta close your eyes and be tired enough to sleep on a matras even Satan himself couldn't bare the smell off. The check-in is NUTS you have to walk to another building without elevator, and drag your stuff up to check-in to get a blinking code to go to another building with. And last but certainly not least: the bedroom door automatically locks with a lock that's difficult to open making it 1000% unsafe in case of a fire. Btw the bathroom door doesn't lock. Idk...if you need a cheap sleep close to the station, you'll live...but don't ruin your Holliday with this craphole.
The staff was very friendly

AustriaEverything. Too loud. Breakfast is from 5 6 days ago, bread is like a stone. Although it says that check out is until 10:30 on Booking, in reality it is until 10 and the maid entered our room in 9:30, while we were on the mentioned breakfast, while our stuff was still in the room. The worst experience ever.

Very spacious space, very clean within 2 minutes walk from the train station and walking distance to the main attractions. Huge private balcony with a swing. Cheap and a big breakfast buffet in the morning.

IrelandThe location is not good. It is in front of the bus station. The vibes werent great. At night, there were people sleeping next to the hostel door. I felt unsafe and unconfortable.
I am celiac, I didnt advise the hostel about it, but they let me go its hotel next to the hostel to get gluten free breakfast.
